Japan doesn’t exactly have an offensive military, it’s a self defence force. This means Japan will not have as many vehicles as nations such as Germany or USA or Russia and so on. However I’ve come across 3 Japanese vehicles that could realistically be added.
First we have the Type 11 surface to air system

(type 11 missile system on the Toyota 4x4 Mega Cruiser)

(type 11 missile system on the Isuzu 6x6 type 73 truck)
The differing vehicle platforms is due to the JGSDF and JASDF having different vehicle requirements.
Development of the type 11 missile system began in 2005 as Japan wanted an improvement over the type 81 missile system found in the Tan-SAM Kai. In 2011 the type 11 was listed in Japan’s procurement plans (hence the name type 11). Finally in 2014 the missile was publicly demonstrated.
The type 11 missile system is found on the Tan-SAM Kai II and requires a separate radar and fire control vehicle much like the Tan-SAM Kai found in game. The type 11 missile is the direct successor of the type 81 missile.
Type 11 missile
- Length 2.93m
- Diameter 160mm
- Weight 103kg
- Has an onboard ARH radar
- Solid rocket motor
- Contact and proxy detonating HE warhead
- Estimated to be Mach 2.5–3.0
- Range estimated to be 10–18km
- Estimated higher G pull than the previous type 81
Type 81 missile
- Length 2.7m
- Diameter 160mm
- weight 100kg
- IR/CCD or Phased array active radar homing (missile variants)
- solid rocket motor
- Contact and proxy detonating HE warhead
- Estimated to be Mach 2.4–2.9
- Range 14km
*Estimated to have 25–35 G pull (warthunder sets to 35g)
The next vehicle I believe should be added is the Chu-MPM

The Chu-MPM is an anti tank and anti landing craft/amphibious vehicles and can be used against helicopters too. The Chu-MPM is a cheaper and more compact version of the multi vehicle type 96 MPMS system. It was put into service in 2009 and is used by the JGSDF.
Middle-range MPM
- Length 1.4m
- Diameter 140mm
- weight ~26kg
- IIR/SALH is used as its guidance (fire and forget)
- Estimated to be 200m/s
- Estimated range 25–35km
For the final vehicle, the MPMS Kai
The MPMS Kai is a multi vehicle system like the top tier anti air we see in game. However the MPMS Kai is not designed to sweep the skies and launch missiles at planes. Its designed to sweep the land and coasts and its primary role is destroying amphibious and coastal landing crafts and if in range small ships. This sounds utterly useless for ground rb but its advanced radar vehicle has been designed to scan for tanks meaning it can see and track tanks and land vehicles. The MPMS Kai is a 3 vehicle system with a radar vehicle, a command vehicle, and the launch vehicle.
(system demonstration diagram)
The radar vehicle
Information about the radar vehicle is scarce due to it being a 2026 JGSDF system. However current information reveals the radar is an advanced AESA radar that is flat in the bed during travel as seen in the image and can rise on mast one stopped at a safe position. Similar to the Sky Sabre seen in game and the Spyder. The radar vehicle for the MPMS Kai is capable of automatically detecting, identifying and simultaneously tracking multiple targets.
The command vehicle receives encrypted radar data and sends it to the launch vehicle to adjust to the target and fire at the enemy. Very little information is currently available about the command vehicle
Now the missile and launch platform.
The launch platform is the Toyota 4x4 Mega cruiser much like a lot of Japanese missile platforms.

The missile

MPMS Kai missile
- Length 2.3m
- Weight ~100kg
- IIR/Surface laser scanning/target shape estimation is its guidance
- Speed Mach ~0.6–0.8
- Range 20–35km
