Instead of the usual 8 or 9 tasks, have you noticed that most events only have 7? I remember the Boxer MGS event, which had 9 tasks. The last task gave you a chest with 4 random modifications, and I got DM63, which made stock grinding much easier. Why can’t we have that anymore as the last task, sure it may give you some rubbish but maybe there is a chance to get something good to ease the stock grinding pain?
A bonus is that missing just one task wouldn’t make you fail the event and have to use GE.
