I still wish it was the Matsu class Destroyer/ Kaibōkan Momi as I can’t see any real reason to add the Momi class destroyer 1919 as it’s a downgrade to the Mustuki class destroyer and the Mustuki class even through not to terrible why replace it?
Ahh well it’s a nice addition anyway the Momi but it’ll have the same problems as Mustuki in that it has poor AA defence.

I agree… having matsu-class DD that have 1 twin & single 120mm gun and armed with lots of 25mm AA gun while carrying 1 quad torpedo is much better as it also have better armor layout than Momi…
IF i had to add something related to this reserve-level DD ship… I HOPE that Gaijin adds 3.3 DD that undergoes AA refit around 1942-1945 that trades its main firepower and maybe torpedoes as well…
TO me, its Japanese version of HMS Churchill role except Churchill capability are supposed to be 3.0 level…
Anyone ever use Churchill against 0.7 BR ship higher and more WOULD understand the difference…

To add for what i mentioned… based on what i read about, it seems that Matsu-class DD armed its main guns differently with 1 single forward & a twin on the rear…
FYI… Gaijin haven’t fixed Syonan gunboat that have similar gun layout on Matsu DD based on pictures found on Google so far…

Yes from reading the Matsu class were deemed light destroyer which had similar armament to Hiburi/ Mikura class Kaibōkan Shounan although yes annoying that ship is STILL Missing an aft cannon (among other issues but at least it gets Artillery), btw I’m not sure whom modelled the magazines but they’re absolutely HUGE on Shounan especially the AA one which is larger then one on the Kongō class Battlecruiser.
Chances are/ if gone by history if the Matsu class was added it would’ve likely gone after the Torpedo Boat Chidori/ Kaibōkan Shounan due to the similarity ntm that historically the Chidori class is successed by the Ōtori class which is then successed by the Mastu class buuut with the addition of the Ayanami class Destroyer it could’ve also gone after the Mustuki class or Fubuki class as at the end of the day the TT placement of warships doesn’t make any sense.
If the Matsu class Destroyer Momi was added it would’ve been excellent imho.
Still a WWII Momi class destroyer in it’s PB configuration would likely be like the British Town class 1940 destroyer although for an even more unique touch and closer to the Churchill there’s also the Ex USS Stewart DD-224 later PB-102 in Imperial Japanese service which could one day come.
But a Momi class PB could’ve made a nice secondary TT option placed after the Momi although missing a midship cannon the added half a dozen Type 96 25 mm armament would’ve been an absolute boon to this ship as early ships suffer from poor anti-aircraft defence in game.
Back to your mentioning Churchill lucky it ain’t 4.0 anymore heh for a lot of poor vessels used to have higher BR’s & could meet cruisers like the Emden (Technically Churchill can still meet a cruiser if someone plays Italy or japan & of course can meet a so called cruiser/minelayer)…

Guess they dont want to add type93 capable reserve destroyer. Still would be nice to see elsewhere, tho it might land in coastal tree.
As a side note with impetuoso being added I hope to see murasame quite soon.
IT doesn’t make much difference… Surely type 93 torp is among deadliest in the world BUT it also among the easiest to ammoracked due to its high TNT yield + cramp it near other ammo load means almost guaranteed INSTAKILL IF hit at the right part with decent TNT yield…
TO me, honestly HMS Churchill being made as 3.0 Reserve DD would be a fair game in the future and could be used to teach most newbies how to fight off small assault force of mixed torpedo boat, low-flying torpedo bomber and reserve DD level…
Anyone managed to fend superior vehicle (boat,destroyer & plane) and stay alive long enough could use this experience to survive deadlier naval battle akin to outlive 80 5" DD shell at least once while using 3.7 Destroyer…
FYI… i’ve been there where i receive almost 200 shell of 5" gun a minute while using 4.0 DD back then and luckily survive almost 2 minute although i died due to being bombed afterwards…
