Do you expect modern MLRS to be added to the game?
If yes, do you think they deserve a separate gameplay mode based on their real-life use, or could they be integrated into the current gameplay?
Personally, I think option #1 makes more sense — I even created a mission around that idea (although the mod broke after the last updates, so the mission isn’t available anymore).
What do you think?
What gameplay do you expect from MLRS?
- New gameplay based on real-life use
- Integrated into current gameplay
- Not interested in MLRS

I dont know about seeing MLRS as playable vehicles. Theyd be… niche.
But would really love to see an option to swap out regular artillery strikes with MLRS strikes, different advantages and disadvantages to regular artillery.

In current gameplay - yes, I agree.
That is why I think MLRS deserve separate gameplay.
That is what I have done in my mission. Mavic drone is for aiming correction and objective control.

that would be quite overpowered depending on the MLRS, caliber and the distance of these from the battlefield… Smerch, HIMARS or Uragan would flatten everything in a capture point both buildings and tanks no matter if it-s a bunch of object 279 lol
grad in the other hand has 40x122mm rockets so there’s a high chance that each barrage will destroy one or two tanks and disable most of them in an area, as far as i know the dispersion of grad is about 1 square KM from a long distance of 10+ km which is basically an entire map in war thunder LOL or at least the entire combat zone
if you could choose between lets say 4x grad rockets or 1x big caliber rocket then it would be more or less balanced
This is largely what im thinking and it doesnt even need to be anything specifically modeled. I dont think the current artillery is.
Just visually and functionally different
- aesthetic differences
- faster call in
- fewer, but bigger explosions
- comes in at an angle (so trickier to use on CQB maps)
Yeah, that is one of main concerns. MLRS is considered to be too OP or opposite not so effective against tanks. Though, this issue exists only in PVP gameplay.
mlrs in real life is really devastating but it has some randomness factor tied to them, the longer the distance the more a rocket will travel off it’s intended path, to a point where scoring a hit is really difficult hence why these are used in battery formations and large quantities, but modern ones are even stronger than ancient katyusha or andryusha and their accuracy is improved, smerch for example can launch 12x300mm projectiles each having a weight ranging from 150 to 250 kg, uragan can launch 16x220mm projectiles and himars 6x 220mm or one big ATACMS missile, one of these vehicles would not be overpowered in a match due to magic box limitarion or capture points being contested battle zones but if you faced lets say six of them in a match or all players were constantly using artillery call for a full barrage it would be quite problematic to deal with
We already have MLRS in game and they are a gimmick, see Katushas, Panzerwerfer or that japanese MLRS.
Smerch, Uragan etc., im not even sure these could depress the launchers enough to engage tanks on current map sizes, and i want to avoid a situation where we would get whats essentially WoT arty.

What Beeschurger said pretty much. Smaller mlrs like the ww2 stuff and firos would be fine imo but larger ones (Himars, Uragan, Golan 1000) would only really work in separate modes and customs.
