is it known for sure if even the f-2 will arrive in the next update or in any future update?
They stated that a japanese jet is coming next update, we’re guessing the F-2A but maybe they’re just trolling us very hard and it’s gonna be another paper plane
Appeared in last leak list, and we know Japan is getting a jet next update. So nothing confirmed, but with how much players want the F-2, it is very likely it could come.
We have comment from BVVD that it comes “most likely this year”, information about new jet for Japan in community report #6. Japan also doesn’t have 14.0 plane. So, we’re hoping for the F-2 in the next update, but nothing is confirmed
guess its the F-2
hope its the F-2
reality, might not be the F-2
Aesa that’s probably gonna be the same as all the non gimbaled peas/aesa and is still going to be worse than the gimbaled pesa on something like the su-30sm. And those Japanese missiles are still worse than the modernized aim-120s/aim-260, at least in game.
it also appeared in the previous two leak lists, so…
Well, all we can do is cope and hope for the best.
The F-2 coming won’t give us a 14.0, it is just worse then the F-15JM
Completely depends on what Gaijin does or doesn’t do with it.
If it comes with HMD, AAM-4B, 6 ARH missiles, an actual functioning radar (ala Rafale), then it’s solidly put in 14.0 material.
Having some of those features puts it barely at 14.0, but lacking all of that, then I agree it would be 13.7 at best.
Yea, it’s a high likelyhood but it’s all up in the air (no pun intended). Rafale, EFT, and Hornet got a direct tease in the CM posts (“Keep an eye out for the start of the dev blogs and watch out for extreme weather!” and “We can say that one vehicle in the next major is definitely causing a buzz. We know a great many of you will be eager to get your hands on it and and leave your opponents with a real stinging sensation!”).
Meanwhile for this update, we got: “There will of course be aircraft too, including a rather cool helicopter for the USA and a jet for Japan.”. At least for US we can have a good guess because a cool helicopter puts it as a unique one. For Japan, it’s just they get a jet which could range from any old post war jet to a sub-tree jet to actually F-2 or some other F-15 variant.
Not sure we will see AAM-4B maybe but i am hoping for extended theoretical loadout capabilities and the planned but so far yet to be seen HMD.
Yea, who knows. Depends if we get better missiles for others but at the same time, AAM-4B is unique with its seeker that other nations don’t have an equivalent in the near future.
I think just having a decent AESA radar set with HMD will be potent but we’ll see what they do. I’m more interested in flight performance and and A2G loadouts (ASMs against helicopters would be nice).
We have lots of proof of it not having HMD, with how gaijin models AESAs the -4B won’t be too much better then the 4, and even if it was the F-15J(M) will still also get it, and honestly unless AAM-4s get substantially buffed, having 6 of them won’t put them over the 4+4 arhs of the J(M).
That doesn’t mean anything because Gaijin will do anything for balance. I mean look at the Thai F-16A for recent proof of that.
They might make an exception to the 4B by tweaking it’s sensitivity to chaff and reduced notch angles. They don’t have to model AESA at all.
I think people are arguing that the J(M) itself is a 14.0 plane. Regardless, I think it will always be a sidegrade to the J(M). Where the J(M) has staying and ability to contest, the F-2 would have maneuverability and advantage after the merge. Obviously for air RB something like the J(M) is meta because of 16 vs 16, but as soon as the player count gets lower the meta shifts closer to the planes like the F-2.
but is the F-2 even capable of carrying more than 4 ARHs? From what I’ve seen (respectively not seen), it doesn’t have such an option
It would be the same exact loadout as F-15JM which itself is under-BR’d as its equals are 14.0.
AAM-3s and AAM-4s.
AAM-4Bs would make it better than all 14.0s, same with AAM-5s.
I of course believe XF-2 is the ideal premium; with only AIM-7s and 9Ls would be interesting, it’s also more plausible as it’s inherently a harder aircraft to research compared to the F-2 itself.
@Crusher_28
Dunno, it only has 6 heavy pylons, and 4 light pylons for IR AAMs.
I don’t recall any evidence showing ARHs are usable on more than 4 of the heavy pylons.
and ya all are saying that ooo we need AAM-4B, but the non B version is still underperforming in terms of thrust so what’s the point of adding even something more obscure that Gaijin won’t be able to model correctly
same goes to AESA radar on Rafale and how wrong it is, it should be practically insta-scan and notchless, also multipathing would become non existent
