Mitsubishi F-2

Gaijin does the AOA button for things that can exceed AOA, and do it on notable aircraft.

However, F-2A is supposed to be 12Gs as the limit instead of 10 in-game to my knowledge.

What does that have to do with extreme AoA at slow speeds?

AoA limit button used to be only reportable for those that had it irl, but after gaijin realized the whole concept doesn’t really make any sense, they came up with a new rule that only certain aircraft will have this feature regardless of historical accuracy and it will not be bug-reportable, and dev’s words is final.

IIRC it got it because the F-2 has some fancy flight control logic that allows it to exced it’s normal AoA in certain circumstances. No Idea about the details, but @Xeno_quaza can probably tell you more about it

year: 2026, pls buy yourself a 1080p screen

this is just for xbox - it has a 1080p 120 hz screen, but it runs war thunder at only 50 fps at low settings. So i just run it at 720p for a much better 110ish fps for that sweep high refresh rate.

didnt even know console had variable refresh rates

The AoA button might help get a lucky shot but I think the lack of thrust would send it death spiraling into the ground pretty soon, so I’m not sure if it’s even something to worry about.

Its authority override does not override its AOA limit. The F-2 actually has worse stability then the regular F-16 (capping out at 22 degrees versus 26), presumably due to its center of lift being farther forward due to the lower sweep of the wing ang the larger LERX. Which (the less stable design) is necessary for making ME maneuver modes work properly.

The F-2 irl does actually have a pitch override, but it simply raises the maximum G-tolerance from 9Gs to 12Gs. The AoA limit and maneuver systems are still in place, unlike most other pitch overrides.

So, honestly, imo nah, the F-2 shouldn’t get an AoA override. It didn’t have one IRL. And also imo it’s more pressing for gaijin to fix the F-2’s FM first, as it’s still actually underperforming. The MLC implementation in game lacks mach scheduling, causing substantial pitch dampening at speed, when this should not be the case. And it’s structural limits are actually massively underperforming. If these two things were fixed the F-2 would genuinely be pulling like 16Gs in game at high speeds.

Also, I made a bug report for the drogue/drag chute: Community Bug Reporting System

I don’t have any documents or anything but it is a weird discrepancy that I feel should be corrected to bring it back into line.

I havent been getting any rwr warnings for r-77s. its actually annoying

As much as I love the F-2A, this fighter lags far behind the current meta. Personally, I believe that the AESA radar and AAM-3 missiles are currently the strongest features of this aircraft.

I am definitely looking forward to a new, improved version of this fighter (if such a thing exists), which perhaps includes HMS and AAM-4B missiles, which I think should happen as soon as possible due to the rapidly emerging new aircraft that are changing the meta. Alternatively, AAM-5 in the future when adding new generation infrared guided missiles.

I would also like to talk about the premium version of this fighter, the F-2A ADTW. Currently, I think that the aircraft itself, when compared to other fighters with the same Battle Rating, seems to be quite good.

However, in reality, with the current matchmaking draws, statistically, for 70% of the time, the aircraft encounters fighters with a Battle Rating of 14.0, such as the F/A-18C Late or JAS-39E, which outclass the F-2A ADTW, not to mention that just 0.3 BR higher (13.3) we can encounter fighters such as the Su-30MK2, Su-30MKK, JF-17, and J-11, which have up to 6 ARH, HMS, and IR missiles with IRCCM, which in the hands of an average player can easily decide our fate thanks to this set, and due to the popularity of the latest Su-30MK2 and Su-30MKK packs, fate is not on our side in the vast majority of cases.

Also, since SPICE 250 was added, I would like to see similar weapons in the form of GCS-1 added to JASDF fighters.

Another reason I love the F2, dogfighting when you’re out of missiles and a beautiful camo.
Also I ran out of fuel at the end when I pull up against the su30. For some reason every flanker has an innate desire to do a cobra and in my case works fantastic. LMAO

F16 does not have one irl the F 2 does have an overG button on the throttle but it doesnt need it in game since the fm is already very good

More of that G limiters in game just aren’t modeled, as they would make planes feel significantly heavier then they do currently.

He wanted to look cool and do this lol Funny to see it fail.

Do yall think I can report the f-2 missing NCTR data on its mfd using a f-16 mfd document?

you can try

The F-2’s electronics are entirely unrelated to the F-16’s.
