It doesn’t. HMD was said to be a possible upgrade to the F-2, but so far there is no sources for integrated HMD, and no images of F-2 equipped with HMD either.
It would be nice to see, but sadly there is no proof so far.
As far as we are concerned F-2s currently have no HMD capabilities. They do not share the same systems as F-15J. There is a document of mention of HMD being a planned upgrade but that has so far not gone through…if gaijin adds hmd it will most likely be for balance or simply because it was mentioned in that document as a “planned” addition to justify their move to add it. But IRL we have so far seen no sources or pictures of F-2s with any HMD
wasnt it required to get HMD for like a specific missile the F-2 has?
well we do have tech demonstrator’s that have equipment it never had (Yak141 never had IRST nor had its avionics/weapons fitted yet ingame it has)
so why can’t the F-2A get the same treatment?
Yes thats why i said that if its added it will be because it was a planned upgrade.
But we shouldn’t be surprised if it doesn’t get it.
knowing that gaijin already gimped japan out of its GCS-1 IR guided bomb (apparently it cant track tanks according to them, when its been proven countless times it can)
so cant expect to get HMD :(
You might be referring to AAM-5/B but no HMD is not required for AAM-5.
The only mention of HMD+AAM-5 is with the F-15J
If HMD is a possible upgrade to the F-2, it’s more than possible gaijin gives it HMD to allow it to fit better in the top tier environment. I’m pretty sure they’ve done it before.
This is likely, but all the others are saying is if it doesn’t show up, not much we can do as we don’t have information to bug report or anything
Yak-141 and Kikka are not production aircraft, so you either have to prove F-2 was never introduced into service or prove Yak-141 and Kikka were introduced into service.
Different treatment for different situations.
Same situations get same treatment.
Well the F-16 OCU did get HMD it never had simply because they increased its BR and gave it AMRAAMS it also did not use.
Which all honestly is all the justification we should need for the same treatment with F-2, but we’ll see.
Poor Thai research is a more likely answer than anything else.
There are multiple variants of F-16 in Thai service, and it’s easy to confuse them.
There’s not that same level of confusion potential with F-2.
By the by, all that needs to be proven for production aircraft that don’t have service weapons is that it’s drop-in capable.
I highly doubt that they added HMD to it during one of the battle rating changes how is that confusion?. They gave it hmd simply for balance reasons.
As for the F-2 we know HMD was planned and is mentioned in documents we just dont know if they went through with it and so far haven’t seen one.
So its at least possible as theoretical just unknown.
Operation Pitch Black 2024 - F-2 dropping GPS guided bomb
Nah, so, firstly, the F-2 is just going to come with the J/APG-2, it would be so DOA it may as well have arrived with the F-16C if they gave it a J/APG-1, seeing as it lacked the J/ARG-1 datalink transceiver needed to effectively use the AAM-4 (though it could still technically be mounted).
And, honestly, even with the J/APG-2, it’s still not gonna be great.
Honestly, it shouldn’t be 14.0, unless gaijin gives the AAM-4 and J/APG-2 their full capabilities it’s going to be a very mediocre 13.7.
Even if gaijin gives it 6x aam-4, as it was planned/technically possible depending on the pylon arrangement, it still wouldn’t really be good at 14.0
Yes, that’s what I think as well, if they even have one and didn’t just get a random guy to google it. All mistakes with the F-16A Block 15 OCU are easy misconceptions.
- There is Thai F-16As fitted with AMRAAM, but those were either the ADF variant, or OCU aircraft modernized to eMLU standard, while the base OCU still couldn’t carry them.
- The OCU in game is missing two countermeasure dispensers, but this is likely confused with F-16 ADF models that never had those additional launchers in Thai service.
- The countermeasures currently are two ALE-40 launchers in the tail, one large and one small caliber. That’s technically possible for ALE-40, just inconvenient, and weird that it’s the only ALE-40 equipped aircraft to have this limitation.
- HMD was integrated with the OCU, two different types even, but not the one in game. The F-16B variants got DASH alongside Python 3/4 integration, while the eMLU upgrade also added JHMCS to the F-16A. But none of those are the F-16A OCU in game
- Missing armament is just missing armament. Probably someone googling a bunch of images before they had a good enough list and never bothering to find the AGM-65G/G-2 or GBU-16, or maybe even misidentified them for armament already found.
Sadly that’s unlikely, we don’t even know the intended type of HMD. It’s either Gaijin wants it to have HMD and adds it, or they don’t and don’t add it. No matter what we do, I doubt we can change it without requiring more sources than we have.
Uhh we do actually know a bit about the type of HMD intended, it was gonna have a multi-colour display for designation of targets based on type (from sensor fusion + datalink), and was gonna have over the shoulder capabilities for the AAM-5. IIRC they also wanted it to have an automatic threat priority system, which used AI to instruct the pilot on which target to go for, as that’s something japan was also working on at the same time as the HMD.
