If it gets ARH doesn’t it have to be J/APG-2? I thought the aircraft fitted with J/APG-1 lacker the DL-Transmitter (forgot what it’s called) to support ARH missiles

Does the Rafael have GaN on its radar?

Not yet, but a GaN upgrade is in the works iirc. The CAPTOR-E for the Eurofighters also uses GaN
*Rafale - The current generation RBE2-AESA is using GaA. RBE2-XG will be using GaN. But idk whether this would make any substantional difference in-game.

Doesn’t GaN have a substantialy higher power output? Meaning much increased range and potentially faster scan time given less exposure time is needed.
at present, only China and the United States are equipped with GaN phased array radar on a large scale.You’re probably talking about gallium arsenide（GaAs）
I know you meant potentially reduced scan time, but your post is not worded that way.
Reduced scan time is possible, depends on what the engineers chose for it.
Yeah that is the point of the technology for the power output.

The scan speed of the J/APG-2 is not particularly fast as far as we can tell (although still faster then anything currently in game).
It’s range is, pretty good? The J/APG-1 maxes out at like 110km in look up against a 5m^2 target. The J/APG-2 is harder to figure out because we don’t have exact power figures, but should be around 160-ish as a rough estimation
