Will heavier and thicker AAM-4(B) fit onto US-made rack?
wonder if they will ever buff the AAM-4s, since they are still not worth taking over 120s because of their weight
I think they are stlil worth it over AIM-120s because of better pull. However, I do think it will get buffed when AIM-120C-5 and stuff show up
Since when are they pulling better? From my own experience they seem to have pretty much the same pull with slightly more drag than 120 after burning out
Tests show that they do turn sharper off the rails. Plus that and better tracking targets near the ground and higher explosive mass still make it good for short range shots compared to AMRAAMS.
Right now with F-15JM
AIM-120- long range kills
AMM-4- shorter range shots.
Really AAM-4 should exceed the AMRAAM in long range performance but sadly not.
I doubt it, they are made to hold amraams and AIM-260 (very similar form factor)
Not possible, would require full FBW overhaul which is prohibitively expensive
I think the F-15JSI upgrade is meant to just increase the AAM-4/B number from 4–>8 tho we arnt fully sure what they mean by increased missile load so still possible we’ll see in due time.
That makes a lot more sense, thanks
If you look better at picture, there is no outboard pylons.
I could see them leaving AAM-4s as is and adding AAM-4B with corrected flight performance when 120Cs are added.
All ARHs have the same seeker anyway so AAM-4 to AAM-4B won’t be an upgrade otherwise.
AAM-4B has AESA seaker, which is quite defining trait of this missile
And now look to the AESA in WT…
Afaik it looks like only different from AAM-4 will be seeker wave length
Which as far as ARHs are concerned will not matter in-game as all seekers are identical currently.

Sorry to bother you, but could you take a look at the stock loadouts for the F-15J(M)?
Stock you get 2xAim 9L and 2xAim 120As, the problem is the Aim 120s are forced to the wing pylons so if you research the first weapon upgrades you would have to just ignore the new missiles because you would have to get rid of the 120s to mount them.
Since the EF had the same issue which was fixed i wanted to ask if it would be possible to do the same here.
Hey. A report would be best for this, since it’s how the Eurofighter was resolved.
The AAM-3 seems to follow the launched missile even while the target is in A/B.
Spoiler

sorry that it took a while but the bug report for the stock loadout is now up
It’s because that’s how the IRCCM of aam-3 and 9M,9L-I work, it’s not tracking the missile it just looks like it but in reality it lost lock, the missile seeker turns off when it sees flares, sun, other missile and it just so happened that the eurofighter lauched it’s missile which turned off the seeker of your aam-3 and it kept tracking nothing
I know that it should be smarter than that but at the same time it’s balanced because if the IRCCM was better you wouldn’t have chance of flaring it
So the strongest IRCM is a missile…
