Mitsubishi 1MT1N (Type 10)

History
The Mitsubishi 1MT1N (Type 10) was developed as a torpedo bomber by the Mitsubishi Aircraft Company. The 1MT was supposably built as a successor to their 1MF aircraft, the Japanese Imperial Navy Air Force was looking for aircraft for its aircraft carrier Hōshō and had chosen the 1MT1N to be that aircraft.

The aircraft was designed by Sopwith designer Herbert Smith. Unfortunately sometime during its designing process the aircrafts compatibility with the aircraft carrier was effected. The aircraft was designed to carry 1 x 800 kg (1,764 lb) torpedo or smaller bombs if needed. Mitsubishi built 20 aircraft and delivered them to the Japanese Imperial Navy. After the aircraft being difficult to fly and being unable to take-off from the carrier with the big torpedo the aircraft was withdrawn from service.

Operational History
The Mitsubishi 1MT entered military service in 1922 with the Imperial Japanese Navy. The 1MT1N was a difficult aircraft to fly for most pilots. The aircraft was designed to carry a 1 x 800 kg (1,764 lb) torpedo and during testing it could successfully take-off on normal runways but, whilst being on the aircraft carrier the problems arose. On the carrier the aircraft was too big, heavy and wasn’t able to take-off with the torpedo on the shorter runway, leading to it being withdrawn from service in 1923 not to long after its introduction.

In 1926, after being withdrawn by the Imperial Navy, one aircraft was put into civilian use. The aircraft was modified to carry passengers and cargo, the frame was also modified to equip the aircraft with floats too. It was used for many years in the civilian sector also occasionally being used as a trainer aircraft too.

In Game
The Mitsubishi 1MT1N (Type 10) would be an interesting Rank 1 introduction for all players in the Japanese aviation tech tree, it would also be one of the oldest planes added to war thunder. The 1MT aircraft with its torpedo would be interesting against, naval targets like ships or submarines. Being a lower ranked aircraft it would be a welcome addition for all players.
