Missile Tube Detonation on Empty Launcher

I’ve noticed what appears to be a consistent bug with the Type 89’s missile launchers. After firing a missile (which happens from the left tube first), the launcher should be empty. However, if the vehicle is hit in that location, the game treats the empty tube as if it still contained live ammunition and detonates it, destroying the vehicle.

This also appears to affect other vehicles with missile launchers — I’ve seen it happen to the Pbv 302 BILL under similar circumstances.

Has anyone else encountered this? I’ve filed a detailed bug report with replay evidence if the devs want to look into it, but wanted to check if this is widespread or if I’m missing something about how the game handles launcher state.

[Bug Report Replay] Type 89 – Missile Tube Explosion While Empty

Visual issue, if you go into the xray view you might see that there really is a missile in the tube even though it normally appears empty until half loaded.

There’s also some other odd behaviour with missile tubes

That X-ray detail is helpful. The issue is that the game’s damage calculation treats the tube as loaded even after firing (so the empty tube still detonates on penetration). If X-ray shows a phantom missile while the normal view shows empty, the launcher state tracking is broken, not just the visual.

This likely affects any vehicle with sequential-fire missile launchers

Affects almost all if not all vehicles with a reloadable missile launcher, though differently. With some the missile is visibly loaded but isn’t actually there until the reload is complete, with others the missile teleports into the tube immediately but isn’t visible yet.

At least the 38cm launcher on the sturmtiger reloads correctly, for now.
