Mismodelling of motor-involved vehicle parts (WIP thread)

Hello, i would like to bring to attention (of the moderators and hence, the developers) and make a compilation (with the help of my fellow players) of all the aspects of internal armour and equipment that has been mismodelled (that directly affects gameplay, survivability, mobility etc).

These mis-modelling issues are practically handicaps thrown upon the vehicles that have them and actively prohibit and restrict their functionality when otherwise IRL and in game they should not do so at all.

First off, lets start with a few of the vehicles i am aware of that have such an issue.
Basically, the turret ring =/= turret basket. However for all these vehicles, this has been made to be the case. The turret basket can be considered to be armour, and any damage or penetration to it does not (IRL) prohibit the turret ring from doing its job unless the turret ring is damaged as well.
This SHOULD be reflected in War Thunder. However we have this:

This list is not complete, i request players to help me compile all vehicles affected by this issue.

For the Americans:

Imp. Chaparral

XM975

ADATS

M247

For the Germans:

Begleitpanzer 57

Puma

Puma VJTF

FlaRakPanzer Roland

FlaRakRad

Gepard (Example of correct modelling)

Strela-10 (Example of correct modelling)

For the British:

Stormer AD

ADATS (M113)

For the Russians:

ZSU-23-4

2S6 "Tunguska"

2S38

As much as i hate this thing… i have to be fair

Pantsir-S1

This one has it the best out of the top tier SPAA ive seen, however… a turret ring is a RING. Not a DISC

I think the big reason they did this is because of dead space in the vehicles making shots do nothing BUT that isn’t really an excuse and I believe the basket should be removed or disconnected from the ring damage model wise

They actually modeled it correctly with one vehicle, the KF41. I want to see it like on the KF41 with the rest of the vehicles, where it can stop spall to a degree.

I nominate the true “turret basket”

I reported it already tho…

its just simply unfair how gaijin is effectively NERFING these vehicles with these ‘updated damage models’

uhh gaijin…care to explain why youre introducing MORE INNACURACY into the game??

No R2Y2 cause its op ofc, oh lets give Russia another top tier with Kh-38s (that it never carried), what could go wrong

i was more talking about giving more tanks and vehicles the innacurate turret basket model that they introduced to so many vehicles

Ik, I wanted to add another case of fiction to it (I also thought this was from a completely different thread)

@Smin1080p_WT.
hate to bother you especially after dev stream when literally everyone must be on your case but this is just wrong.

add all leopard 2s and abrams to this list BTW:

Make sure detailed Bug reports are Made!

If some Bug persist after some fixes have been made, then a new Report will be needed

From what I can see from the Screenshots… there has been no “aspects of internal armour and equipment that has been mismodelled”

The problem for you is… the reference that you are looking at is the entire part that is in Three Dimensional Space, from what I see, everything is lined up correctly…

You see, the 3D part is right where it should be, however… the part looks like it is floating above the tank 3D model and so it does look like it is out of place, BUT if you think in 3D you can see that everything is lined up Correctly

But… yeah let me know if I missed you point anyway

hello
Thanks for the response. I do think you may have missed the point however 😅
See, the issue here isnt exactly a dimensional or physical mismodelling, but rather what specific sections/parts have been modelled as.

because of the nature of traverse mechanisms, they rely on two gears interacting with each other to convert energy into rotational motion.

As such, to model the turret basket in some vehicles as part of that turret ring is overall a handicap which does not exist IRL as the turret basket exists to

  1. Hold turret crew and equipment
  2. Act as internal armour in some vehicles because it is simple metal or alloy which can absorb fragments and spall
