Hello everyone and welcome to this new suggestion.
Today I’m presenting a brand new version of the Mirage 2000, the Mirage 2000B S5.
The Mirage 2000B is the two-seat version of the famous Mirage 2000C. Designed primarily for pilot training, it nonetheless remains fully capable of performing combat missions if necessary. The aircraft has undergone several upgrades and evolutions throughout its long career (which continues today), allowing it to stay aligned with the same technological standards as the combat versions and to maintain effective training capabilities.
Over the years, the Mirage 2000B has transitioned through the various Mirage 2000 standards, each bringing new systems, avionics, and tactical improvements. The version presented here corresponds to Standard 5 (S5). This standard is the last in date and is still in use in the french forces.
The Mirage 2000B S5 is characterized by a tail number between 523 and 530. This version incorporates all the technological advancements of Standard 5, notably the addition of the Eclair countermeasures pod, significantly increasing the amount of countermeasures carried. However, the Mirage 2000B was never equipped with the DDM/MAW present on the Mirage 2000C S5 because the two-seat version was never deployed directly into combat zones, thus necessitating the integration of a MAW.
The 7 Mirage 2000B S5 produced are therefore the last ones present in the French forces, these are distributed among the last units using the Mirage 2000 and will probably be withdrawn from active service in the coming years, the aircraft being at least old and no longer able to best accomplish their training mission for the most modern aircraft.
Characteristics
The aircraft’s dimensions are identical to those of other two-seater Mirage 2000 variants.
- Wingspan: 9.13 m
- Length: 14.36 m
- Height: 5.20 m
- Wing Area: 41.0 m²
Propulsion:
The Mirage 2000B is powered by the SNECMA M53-5 engine. This engine allow the aircraft to reach Mach 2.2 and give it a maximum altitude of 18000 m
Equipment
The internal equipment of the Mirage 2000B S3 is the same as that found on the C variant of the plane
- RDM Radar
- Serval RWR
- Sabre Jammer
- Alkan LL5063 decoy launcher
The radar used is therefore the RDM radar found on the Mirage 4000. This multimode radar allows you to search for targets over 120° in front of the aircraft (horizontally and vertically) and can detect 90% of targets with a reflective surface of 5m² at 50nm.
The radar allows different scanning modes and patterns to detect aerial targets up to 60nm and cover angles of up to 120° by 30°. This radar also allows the detection of naval targets, in fact, the manufacturer announces a ship detection capability at 60nm using the 120° detection pattern.

Weapons
Regarding its armament, the Mirage 2000B S5 has virtually the same payload capacity as its single-seat counterpart, with one major exception: its cannon. The addition of the second seat in the cockpit necessitated the removal of the cannon to make room for the pilot’s seat (a modification common to other French aircraft such as the Mirage F1 and Mirage III). The following armament is therefore found on both aircraft.
AA Missile :
- Matra Magic 1
- Matra Magic 2
- Super 530F
- Super 530D
Bomb :
- SAMP Type 25
- Type 25 200
- Mk 82
- Mk 82 Snakeye
- BAT-120
- BAP-100
- Durandal
Rockets :
- SNEB Type 23
The aircraft can also carry the various fuel tanks common to all variants of the Mirage 2000, namely the 600 L ventral tank and the 1000 or 1200 L tanks under the wings.
In the game, this version would be the most advanced Mirage 2000B available to the French forces (more advanced than the standard versions, the 2000B 501 and the 2000-5 Mk2 being more advanced). It would offer an aircraft similar to what is already in the game but differentiated by its gameplay, lacking a cannon and therefore not suitable for dogfighting.
