Mirage 2000 Thread : Variants, performance, characteristics and sources

Nope just kinetic. I need to find a doc with proper stats for r73 lock ranges as it’s just copy paste for now. No target specified other than speed

Not sure if this document was shared before, but for those interested NASA translated and published a 1978 french paper called “Aerodynamique de la Nouvelle Generation d’Avions de Combat a Aile Delta” which explains the technical choices for the aerodynamic layout of the mirage 2000, why dassault abandoned the variable geometry wing and conventional tail projects, and compares it with the mirage III, Mirage F1 and Mirage G8 layouts.

I read it was a MICA IR

nah,… it is effectively a Magic-II - i stand corrected from some post below the one you’ve answered to.

Why is the RDY radar so bad on the -5F?

The RDY is not that bad, what issue do you have with it ?

locking issues as well as it being only 3 degrees fixed vertical scan

Regarding the lock-on, I must admit I’ve never had any issues. However, I can understand that the limited vertical range might be problematic; it can be disconcerting compared to other radars with a wider elevation range.

Personally, I mainly play in simulation mode and I have a small joystick on my throttle to orient the radar, so I don’t have any problems in that regard because I constantly adjust the elevation.

yeah its managable but annoying in Air rb

Yes, plus the fact that everything happens so fast makes things even more complicated in ARB; it’s difficult to take the time to make adjustments (that’s why I hardly ever play this mode anymore).

Also the Taiwanese Mirage has to be the worst top tier stock grind in the game. 81K rp for a single mod at rank 3 before you get your full mica loadout. Meaning you have to grind that mod completely with only 2 micas

honorable mention: super etendard

(magic 1s locked at T4 with no stock missiles)

Yeah that thing was a pain to spade but I played it when it firat came out so the Brs weren’t that compressed compared to now.

After the reunification of Germany and the collapse of the Soviet Union NATO forces were testing MiG-29 and R-73.
I’m not sure about HMS but IRIS-T and other missiles of similar or close to similar capability exist because R-73 was so good.

Hi everyone

I get the impression this information has gone largely unnoticed, but since a few updates, the necessary information for performing CCRP airdrops from the cockpit view in the Mirage 2000 (version -5F, D R1 and D RMV, the Mirage 2000C are not concerned) and 4000 has been available (which is particularly useful in simulations).

Now, be aware that it’s not yet complete and the information isn’t always accurate, however, it allows you to get a good starting point.

The HUD that hasn't changed

Regarding the HUD, the information remains unchanged; CCRP information is not yet displayed there. To perform a CCRP drop, you must use the various MFD pages. The page to use is the map displayed on the screen at the bottom of the Mirage 2000-5F and 4000 cockpits and on the left side of the Mirage 2000-D cockpits.

This page displays various map elements such as bases and bots. When a target is designated for a CCRP drop (or for firing at any type of ground target), it is surrounded by a yellow diamond (if the target is outside the display on the MFD map, a yellow arrow indicates the target’s direction). In the upper left corner of the display, various information appears, including a heading delta for orienting towards the target, a distance in nautical miles, and a time indicator (Note that the time indication does not indicate when the bombs should be dropped, but when the aircraft passes directly over the designated point.).

Mirage 2000-D display

Mirage 4000 display

It’s already an improvement over what was previously available, but it’s still incomplete; hopefully, we’ll get the correct display on the HUD someday.

Nice ! That’s a good start.
Finally high altitude bombing is a bit more bearable for sim. Still not enough, the HUD CCRP is really needed for sufficient precision tho

Yep, the HUD display is going to be necessary. I’ve done a few drops in the sim and it’s particularly complicated. It’s doable with a joystick, but for keyboard and mouse players it’s practically impossible.

Where’s the HMD Display lol, we still retain Soviet-style HMS.

not HMD but HUD. A HUD is the screen glass in front of the pilot

Of course, what I mean, the update on HUD is pretty good ngl, but I wish they also fix the HMD which is still placeholder since its release day.
