@POLYDEUCES I can’t think premium pre-order pack fighter aircraft to rank 8 (11.7 ~ 12.7 BR) with aviation rank 9 for france in the future
I guess Mirage 2000H & Mirage 2000I from IAF could be to UK tech tree at rank 8 if Australian & Canadian move to future Independent Canada tree with an ANZAC sub-tree
It’s probably Mirage 2000I with Israel DASH helmet mounted sight, Rafael Litening laser designator pod and Isreal domestic Air-to-Ground munitions (Elbit & Rafael)
Even the 1980s version of Foxhunter (Tornado F.3’s radar) had an LPI mode, and it was apparently one of the few things on the radar that actually worked well, at that stage.
RBE2 XG has a fixed antenna doesn’t it, so due to the nature of AESA radars that would presumably limit it’s look angle to not much more than ±60°. By comparison ECRS mk2 has a look angle of ±100°.
RBE2 AESA has ±70, but not much more information has been said for the RBE2 XG besides 70% range increase over previous iteration and the use of some certain tech that I wouldn’t know much more about. RBE2 XG is also to be said to delivered into service in 2027.
I don’t think that’s an appropriate reply to my comment. My comment was suggesting that there’s so little information available on the RBE2 XG that it’s not really worth talking about. Wasn’t really about the performance in general.
My bad 😂, point is the RBe2 is quite a small and compressed package. I’d be surprised if they got high end performance out of an upgrade package unless they increased the size. Bear in mind MK2 requires a new radar cone to fit.
Yes, RBE2 is rather small and the problem is the nose cone of the Rafale not being able to fit anything bigger. Allegedly RBE2 XG will be fitted on only the Rafale F.5 and won’t be retrofitted, so who knows if the nose cone issue is fixed on the F.5.
But, France has never focused on having big planes or big radars like the US or Russia, but instead opted to have key features and technologies on their radars.
I think in Warthunder, having key features or technology is what will be more important than having brute force range on radar.
Especially since they keep radars limited with the render ranges.
Wouldn’t a problem with the 2000-9 be that it would just be identical to the 2000-5F we have in game? Maybe I have my history wrong but wasn’t it said that the current 5F just a mishmash of capabilities and equipment from the -5F, -5F Mk2, and the -9, (and EG as well?) right now?
