Mirage 2000 Thread : Variants, performance, characteristics and sources

Does the mica only guide with tvc for the first few seconds in game because it acts like it doesnt have fins at all and must use tvc to correct itself

it’s a tac view thing.

530D got to 42G as well, and one of my mistrals reached 26G (didn’t get the exact frame where it did that, but the screenshot below shows 23G)
It just constantly spikes from one end to an other

What is the difference between its MAW system and the ones that are being implemented ? And could Gaijing not add the basic features that the M2K MAW shares with the others as a stop gap, just so we can be warned of incoming AIM9M in no marker game modes ?

Mirage MAW was mounted on magic rails and mainly equipped on Mirage 2000N and D. Mirage 2000C never used them and even on 5F it was extremely rare so it’s already not a standard equipment and might be a balance factor similar to four magic 2 Loadout. Deadzones btw:

I’ll include a snippet of Smin talking about the MAWS from M2K compared to the other maws.

  1. The MAWS on the M2K is 360 degrees compared to rear facing MAWs that we have in-game.
  2. The MAWS on the M2K is a RWR based MAWS. So any threats will be displayed on the RWR similar to helis.
  3. The MAWS on the M2K has a low-false alarm rate and should not set off any alarms if the missile isn’t heading to your trajectory. It tracks a missile launch and sees if it is heading towards you before sounding any alarm.

The first picture is inaccurate, but the 2nd one is accurate. It covers 360 degrees below the aircraft or on the same plane.

The Mirage 2000C-S5 got them as a retrofit, just not the S4 event plane. Mirage 2000-5F never mounted it, iirc, but is compatible with it on the MICA pylons.

Even if they decide to not add it to the M2K, they have to implement it for the Rafale as DDM its one of its key features (which also allows us to slave MICAs ‘over-the-shoulder’).
So nice to hear they work on it properly, I hope.

Such a wide detection is literally impossible based solely on the position of DDM on Mirage 2000

That’s exactly the reason why Rafale moved these sensors to its vertical stabiliser in order to cover whole 360 degrees:

I’m hoping they do it add it to the M2K so we can get any bugs ironed out and get it fixed before the Rafale comes. Neat thing about the Rafale is that the DDM on there is more situated for air to air

I hope so too.

Indeed ;D

Aight thanks for the answer(s). But wouldn’t that mean that Gaijing could just implement a similar MAW system to the one present on top tier helis ? Or is it because of the directionality of the threats (aka if the missile goes towards you specifically), which isn’t really present AFAIK on helis ?

I used to think the same, but the thing juts out and looks to the front, side, and rear. There’s a deadzone a few meters in front and back of the plane and the DDM on the other pylon covers the other side.

I think it’s not that easy to just copy paste codes over from helis to planes I guess. They probably never planned ahead that planes might also get RWR-based MAWS and to have it ready ahead of time.

even then it would be closer to something like this:

rather than detection “bending” to the center as if it had effectively no deadzones:

It might be just a wrong scale in the pics because at range DDM would obviously see more but for me it’s just not really convincing. Especially when considering that Rafale had it moved to completely different position specifically to be more A2A suited unlike Magic-mounts on Mirage that were meant to detect mainly ground launches. Which is also one of the reasons why DDM commonly appeared on Mirage 2000N and D while being far less common with C and 5F variants.

These would presume the camera or sensor of the thing is in the back of the DDM case, rather than at the front in the middle. There’s no other reason for why the case is designed the way it is, jutting out.

I get it but we still need to consider its position on the rails/launchers which obviously blocks the FOV mainly to the front of the jet.

Well, it’s gonna be up to Gaijin I guess to determine the angles. I only forwarded info on the RWR based, trajectory warning, which planes should get it and other stuff, but I had nothing on the actual coverage angle.
