All aerial objects have a minimal rendering size. If it’d be smaller than a pixel, it’s upsized to a pixel.
For the majority of cases, like spotting aircraft at long distances without radar - this is great.
But when mini-drones start looking like MALE or jets, that’s an issue.
Recently had a GRB match where I spawned in an F-16, I saw a spot, tried locking it with all possible radar modes and just couldn’t. I circled and tried several times. Apparently it distracted me well enough to let someone sneak on me and shoot me down. It wasn’t until I spawned in a ground vehicle again that I saw it was just a mini drone.
Admittedly, it was an odd case. Someone just flew it really high, enough for a newly spawned jet to see it against a sky background. So it’s not a big issue.
But it’s still an issue. Since mini drones are not really a problem for manned aircraft at such distances that they’re less than a pixel, I figured it’d be okay to just not render them in that case.
As far as I know, munitions aren’t rendered like that.
