Mikuma is a Heavy cruiser not a light cruiser

Well the source is a book i do not have. Pejčoch, Ivo - Novák, Zdeněk - Hájek, Tomáš: Válečné lodě [4] - Druhá světová válka : Anotace českých publikací

This is often quite reliable: MOGAMI light / heavy cruisers (1935 - 1937)

And it also lists the same config as in game.

Well yes I understand that completely example the Project 69 is a Heavy Cruiser in the soviet eyes but in game a Battlecruiser but the devs decision to streamline classification or making things one ship type while going against the ships in game classification is with the lack of a better word just bullocks, As back in 2018 we had Naval Trawlers, Sloops, Corvettes, Fleet Torpedo Boats yet now they’re Gunboat, Subchaser or destroyer).

Take example the Ayanami class Destroyer JDS Ayanami DD-103, Even with the hull type in the pennant it’s still a frigate in the devs eyes (ntm in the killfed you see DD-103 mentioned in the name).

Similar the Chidori class Torpedo Boat Chidori is IRL a torpedo boat (same for a few ships in game like the Type 1924, Type 1939 (it used to have Folttontorpedoboot in its name) mild argument for the as designed Project 2) yet in the game it’s a Gunboat also in the destroyer tutorial it’s classed as a Destroyer.

A similar example to the last is the K class Sloop K-2 which in game is a Frigate although in battle your crew calls it a destroyer when spotted (actually question mod, Why is that the only frigate in the bluewater TT? seems a bit bias ish not to convert it like similar vessels & forced to be subjected to a poorer economy or higher RP/SL requirements).

Another example of types IRL not lining up in game is the Project 1331M, an MPK which are ships smaller than frigates (so corvettes & subchaser) IRL yet in game the vessel is a Frigate even though IRL those are SKR & above (usually, Although reading records the Pr.2 were considered such as seen by the SKR Groza in game).

Now the one I find especially funny is the HMS Peacock P239 Peacock class Corvette, It used to be called a corvette but now it’s considered a Subchaser… Hmmm yesss the subchaser with no ASW equipment.

The Abdiel class Fast Minelayer is another for in game it’s a light cruiser when it plays more like a faster Hunt class Escort Destroyer, Even lower there’s for its time dated in game there’s a destroyer that should be a cruiser the RN Aquila as by 1917 it was considered such & we see the devs going by dated classification as seen by the Tsukuba & Kurama class Armoured Cruisers (Ikoma & Kurama) which between 1912 & 1923 were Battlecruisers.

But like those ACR there’s also the Project 26 (Kirov, Voroshilov & Maxim Gorky) which by the London naval treaties should be a Heavy Cruiser for having cannons over 6.1 inches but due to the soviets not signing those treaties it somehow gets called a light cruiser in game, The inconsistencies are everywhere.

Even then when the classifications don’t line up isn’t to annoying (except how AI armament goes by lower classes not tonnage) but the inconsistency with classification or hell naming from the devs is questionable as take the Kléber Ex Theodor Riedel Z6 is called the Desaix Ex Paul Jacobi Z5 by the devs same with the Luch being the Iltis to them.

I would personally like to see more proper classification in this game not this poxy streamlining we keep seeing in every mode (not even going to get into all the attackers deemed fighters).

I should also throw in.

The Scharnhorst-Class is a Battleship, not a battlecruiser like the game has it posted as…and the Alaska-Class is…complicated if it’s a Large cruiser or battlecruiser.

Just sayin’.

Alaska is a whole can of worms. Its a large/heavy/super/battle cruiser depending on who you ask.
