Did we?
That’s interesting.
Did we?
That’s interesting.
Yeah, for example the F-15E has very little installation penalties with its nozzle (that is modelled w/sound effects). But of course its nerfed to fit some stupid theme of an update, developers going further to even nerf it to lower than a 9G fighter so its more comparable with the Su-34…
The balanced beam nozzle was designed to minimize these penalties by using external flaps shaped for recompression reducing base drag. Allowing the divergent section to float, so aircraft-induced loads naturally balanced instead of requiring heavy actuators. Achieving thrust coefficients of 0.97–0.98 , meaning only 2–3% loss compared to ideal thrust, a very small installation penalty.

the manual is a east german one, for the east german Mig-29 9.12 which very much is in the game
guys the east german mig29 manual is irrelevant for the east german mig29
maybe get a single graph that agrees with you from a mig29 manual
you are hiding behind stuff that isnt even related to the mig29
and onto of that you completly ignored the gain rate chart
There is not a single index 9.12 in War Thunder lol.
The 9.12 is a totally different aircraft to the 9.12A & G. Even aerodynamically different.
LOL!
He is actually confused on what types of Index 9.12 went to East Germany. Worst of all you had no idea that the Initial production MiG-29’s “index 9.12” looked and flew much different to the 9.12A and 9.12G.
This early production MiG-29 was assigned to the 773rd Istrebeitelnyi Aviatsionnaya Polk (Fighter Aviation Regiment) at Putnitz on the northern coast of the former East Germany during the late 1980s and early 1990s. The Regiment formed one third of the 16th Gvardesiskiya Istrebeitelnyi Aviatsionnaya Diviziya (Guards Fighter Aviation Division) headquartered at Putnitz on the northern coast, with other MiG-29 regiments at Witstock and at Eberswalde, north-east of Berlin. The Russians had three fighter divisions in East Germany, each with three Regiments of about 36 MiG-29s, though one Division still had one MiG-23 equipped Regiment. Further back from the frontier, East Germany’s own air force had two three-Regiment fighter divisions, one with two Regiments of MiG-21s and one of MiG-29s, and one with two of MiG-21s and one of MiG-23s. The 773rd IAP was the second MiG-29 regiment in East Germany, (and the fifth in the Soviet air forces), re-equipping in 1987. By 1990, the 773rd IAP had largely re-equipped with the 'Fulcrum-C, but eight early aircraft remained on charge, two still with ventral fins.
The very first production MiG-29s had small auxiliary ventral fins below the tailplanes, providing enhanced directional stability. These were removed when aircraft began to be fitted with the distinctive chafflflare dispenser fairings which ran forward from the fin-roots, above the wing root. Later MiG-29s also featured extended chord rudders, and vortex generators at the base of the nose-mounted pitot, though these features were applied to earlier aircraft by retrofit. The overwing chafflflare dispensers were not generally applied by retrofit, though at least one Putnitz-based aircraft did have them, and bore obvious signs of having had its ventral fins removed. Early MiG-29s also had a ‘Swift Rod’ ILS antenna projecting forward from the fairing under the nose.)
so you have nothing to show yet again?
besides a book that is irrelevant
you have yet to show any graph that agrees with you
It’s the exact same line of nonsense that he was espousing about 2 months ago. It’s not even worth engaging with at this point.
nah surly the stuff he got about the F-15 is very relevant to the thrust on the Mig-29
So like current implementation of fulcrums is accurate or no? (Except the overperforming fuel consumption)
something is wrong with it
but it sure as hell isnt the thrust
Its mind boggling this thing stalls in almost a single turn, i am not reasearching (in game) this bad plane especially at the br it sits at
we have a straight line energy gain/ acceleration graph
that lines up with WT ( the Mig-29 is slightly even slightly overperforming)
but if we were to increse the thrust it wouldnt only be slightly overperforming but majorly
straight line acceleration, 13000kg, full afterburner, clean, at different altitudes

So do you want basic Soviet aviation history? In Russian?
Lol that explains more about the Initial production 9.12 (about 100 units) that have ventral fins, lower thrust & SOS-3M aoa limiter reduced and hard locked to 21 degrees (what all MiG-29s are nerfed to right now in-game). This is widely known and written.
Just basic history of the MiG-29… There was a early production with ventral fins, based on the 924 test bed & is super easy to identify by its ventral fins. It suffered from an asymmetric roll at high alpha that killed a bunch of pilots & was immediately given hard locked alpha @ 21-22 degree limit & quickly phased out.
These 9.12 predominately went to East Germany.

So let me ask you again kid. Do you see a 9.12 in War Thunder? Which MiG-29 has ventral fins in-game?
Do you need me to explain what ventral fins are?
That honestly looks cool af.
Well the German and Hungarian ones are labelled 9.12, and I don’t see what else they could be… (Or are they a later variant than the 9.12, like the 9.12A maybe, and just labelled weong?) If the real 9.12 had ventral fins and the in-game ones don’t, I’m assuming that’s purely a model inaccuracy
For Germany at least they are 9.12A without ventral fins. This can also be seen in images.
Not sure about Hungary, I remember reading they had 9.12B while researching the Malaysian MiGs but I could just be misremembering this.
the Hungarian Mig-29’s are the 9.12B
i dont remember the differences between the models tho
I’ve only read about the different weapon system “СУО-29Э” for “9-12Б”, both were export downgraded variants intended to use R-27R1 and R-27T1.
I’ve also found mentioning of slight modifications to Hungarian 29s, not worth for the game though probably: transponder APX-100, new inboard computer, radio/GPS, new control camera.
Not the best source though: Уголок неба ¦ МиГ-29 в Венгрии
Edit: weapon system is probably the same for both “Э” just means export. But “9-12Б” had a bit worse radar configuration as far as I understand, “РЛПК-29ЭБ” instead of “РЛПК-29ЭА” and optical-electronic system “ОЭПрНК-29Э2” instead of “ОЭПрНК-29Э”.
They were B, paid after the fall of USSR for Russian debt.
The 9.12A was the Warsaw Pact standard, any WP nation that received MiG-29s received them in that configuration. The 9.12B was made for less friendlier nations outside the pact, and that included Yugoslavia as well. If you hear of a non-WP nation having MiG-29s, such as Yugoslavia, Iran, Iraq, Eritrea etc, they are definitely 9.12Bs.
The post has information. You can scroll up to the OP whenever you need to.
That’s not true… the Soviets had two different levels of export: Warsaw Pact-friendly, and friendly but not close. Hungary used to be a Soviet satellite state so it received the sub-variant specifically designed for the pact, so it was the 9.12A. The 9.12B on the other hand was only targeted for nations outside of the pact, even if they were also communist, like Yugoslavia.
