As you have hinted at the end, it’s not something unique to the MiG-29 & Flanker.
UK’s Gripen and France’s Mirage 2000-5F are at 13.7, leaving little reason to play them, if you already have the Typhoon and Rafale.

Yep, a series of aircraft in top tier suffer from this. I love the f-15C, but then there’s the E which is much better, although the gap between the two is not as bad as the su-27 and mig29…
honestly tomcats are goated and under tiered in general, they have a pretty high skill ceiling - got the tools to be highly effective at all distances and can stomp in the dogfight if flown well. I’ve always had the opinion they should all go up at least one br step and receive their better IR missiles to match the competition.

They tried that by giving AIM-9L at one point and it performed worse, same thing will happen again. The F-14 just isn’t easy enough for your average war thunder gamer.

So guys, we’re totally gonna get the R-73 on the MiG-29A’s, right? Since they carried them historically, and had that HMD thing put in like, specifically for those missiles. So it’d be dumb not to give it to them. Especially considering that the Su-27 has more of em just 0.3 brs above.

They would be OP with R-73s at 12.7. he German one also can’t go to 13.0 with them since it would negate the whole purpose of the Mig-29G.

I believe the 9.13 and 9.12 will stay with r60s while the S variant will be added to Russia at some point. To be honest with you, nowdays i think it would be better that way.
Well theoretically, with the introduction Anti-Radiation missiles, (which unless we’re counting Brochure ordnance, see the “Additional Capability” excerpt(s) for potential station loading) the F-15E / -EX in US service won’t mount them.
Alongside the use of the HTS (HARM Targeting System), the F-16C-50 will be the sole (relevant) USAF airframe (discounting the FSD F-16’s & select F-16C/D-30 airframes, and the F-4G) until the F-35A.
So there will be some Edge the contemporary F-16 will retain especially if the Revision 7 HTS is modeled since it can generate GPS co-ordinates for detected emissions, permitting strike with other ordnance or handoff via datalink.
I mean didn’t the 27E series start in like, the 90s? And the R-73 was here from the start?

Theoretically the 9.13 can equip those, but IRL they appeared only on the S variants afaik.
In my opinion, they should add the 29S with r73s and 27ERs while removing the ER from the 9.13, lowering its br to 12.3 if they intend to keep them from getting r73s (this could already be done with the 29G and 9.12). This change would be better both for the soviet mains and ppl who play with 3rd gen fighters, r27er was always the missile that destroyed balance, r73s are pretty good but aren’t at the same level of bullshit, not even close.

R-73 started limited service in 1982 iirc, while R-27 in 1984 while R-27E in 1986, full introduction was 1987 for 27, and 1990 for 27E

And the Mig-29 was introduced in 1983, So I guess R-73 and R-27 would be historic
As per what ive said from the 29 dev server till now, in general 29A’s should have r73 and no ER. If they are so set on having r60’s on a 29 then just make a 9.12 for russia and put it at 12.3 with no ER then call it a day. Not having the archer on mig’s is the same as having a tomcat without the phoenix - its the jet’s flagship missile and an utter joke they are still not allowed to carry them in game. IF it is starts to overperform then put it up a step - br is the balancing measure that should be used not arbitrarily removing quintessential kit from the jet.

I honestly dont think we need to touch the 29G too much
I like the ER on that airframe, even if its unhistoric. Whats kinda annoying is that the 29A has them too.
Imo they should give the ER to the 29G (and a possible 29S) while removing them from the 29A.
then they could give the R73 to the 29A and there would still be a reason to grind the 29G - it got the ERs
If you make them have the same kid it would kinda make it sad yk :/

Nah i wasn’t talking ab the G, imo the G should stay as how it is rn, it’s on the perfect spot. I was talking about the ddr 9.12 specifically, removing ER and giving it r73s would be the best for balance, or just remove the ER and drop it to 12.3…
