Depends of variant.
Like ID said, depends on the variant, but if we’re talking about the 9.15 then the upgrades make up for the lack of good rwr, against airplanes of its era (1990s) it’ll be more than enough.
9.15 156 has the L-150 pastel
Problem solved then :)
Is there any images of the MiG-29SMT with 8 wing hardpoints? It would be a cool modification to add to the existing SMT in game.
no
At least MiG-31 got passed, still no MiG-29M thought…
Against the background of recent global world events, the news remained unnoticed…The Swifts aerobatic team is transferring to the MiG-29SMT (9-19R)…
Soon we will find out how the MiG-29SMT can actually fly.!!!
Why exactly did they transfer from old 29s to the SMT if it’s supposedly less maneuverable 😅
irl? its not agreed that the in game FM is accurate
No but it’s still a pretty big weight increase, with the same Thrust.
Still it has fly by wire.
I’ve seen people contest that the 29SMT’s thrust is wrong and should be higher
Serie 3 mostly is about engine life extension
Because the SMT’s avionics is much, much better and so is the radar.
The SMT also solves the MiG-29’s issue of short combat radius by giving it more fuel.
Their original plan was to introduce the M but then the fall of ussr happened… SMT is good in terms of avionics and shit but it’s a lazy made aircraft, they just picked the old 9.13s and added more stuff without any major adjustments, that’s why it’s a boat
Well, compromises have to be made sometimes.
Russia after the fall was not in a great spot economically, and cannot take bigger risks especially in procurement.
Exactly, to be honest, 90s was such a catastrophic timeframe for the russians that i’m actually surprised that they were able to come up with something in 10 years, even though it was inferior to the western counterparts at the time.
Perhaps “lazy made” is not a proper way to describe the SMT, they did what was possible at the time.
