Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 Fulcrum - History, Design, Performance & Dissection

OG mig-29 won’t get them because of the reasons @AlfiestheName mentioned, sadly we’ll need to wait for another variant If we want a light 29 with r73s

The MiG-29G will be the only MiG-29 that fits that desire for a nimble dogfighter with it’s full load.

Every 29 from here on out will be heavier without much thrust to compensate.

Some variants like 29S, SM or 9-17 SMT have the same minimal weight as the 9-13, some like the 9-15 and modern ones that evolved from the 9-15 have significant thrust increase.

Also 29S can come in the form of 9-12 instead of 9-13 If I’m not mistaken.

I have no horse in this race but I believe that Gaijin won’t be adding a gajilion variants like they have for the MiG-21 and F-4s. In the end it won’t matter anyway until they fix the FM.

FM is not as wrong as everyone thinks tho, the 29 is probably the 4th gen with most info available on the internet due to it being sold to everyone around the globe, which contributed to it having one of the most correct FMs… If you compare the mig-29 with planes that don’t overperform significantly or just don’t overpeform you’ll notice that it’s not impossible to beat them, f14s, f15c, mirage2000 (it suffers a bit against it but it’s possible), su-27 are all killable, the problem are the little UFOs. Improving the instructor a lil bit would be nice since it would bleed less energy in RB, but that’s entirely up to the devs.

Nah, if they add just one of them it’s fine :)

According to this website the 29S has the N019M @Giovanex05, it might be an interesting aircraft for 13.0 if they don’t give it r77s.

It would be nice if they transformed the 9-13 to 9-13s and gave it R-73 at 13.0, while adding a lower br (like 12.3 or 12.7) MiG-29 9-12 “early” with R-60s and R-27R.

9-18*. 9-17 is heavier than 9-19

Would be the way to go tbh, just like early mirage at 12.3

Damn if the 9-19 is already a boat i can’t even imagine how the 9-17 would behave lol

Why not tho? It would fill the top tiers, making the power-creep less of the issue (especially if Snail gonna spread out armament more evenly) and would allow them to cash out on top prems while maintaining “We dont sell top prems” (like Su-33 (I know it isnt a prem) is a “top” aircraft, but not top BR)

Exactly and what giovanex suggested would help 3rd gen aircraft a lot since the ER is too OP for them

More precisely, 9-12 SD (Slovakia/Serbia/Syria)… there is also a MiG-29 Bangladesh hybrid modernization based on BM/SM/SMT but while maintaining the 9-12B. glider.

I don’t think that they will make new cockpit and outer models to change old vehicle. They can add 9-13s as new aircraft

aren’t 9-13s and 9-13 basically identical thought?

If only they would listen… it should have been added with the J-10, that was the perfect patch for it. It would still be competitive even now, thrust to weight is relatively close to the eurofighter (likely lower at low speed but equal or even a little better at high speed). New engines + new intakes do a lot of difference since it has the same take off performance as the MiG-29A with a much higher normal take off weight since it has more payload and fuel capacity.

I don’t know.

I believe there are some differences inside the cockpit but it’s minimal

then they could do the same thing I said above without calling it S, and add the S as an event/premium/foldered variant with R-77 at 13.3

Here’s a light mig29 variant with SMT like capability(except RWR)
