On a MiG-29K you can notice that outermost pylons have slightly longer spacers. Missile hangs a bit lower than the rest of the set. Personally I tend to believe that all Gen 2 Fulcrums are capable of 8 R-77s and the info on the archive websites was just copy pasted from SMT page without double-checking . Being acquainted with some of the government web portals of Russia myself, I can absolutely believe that someone just was an absolute ass at their job.
A 9.31
9.41
9.41 in the back
9.31 in the front

i cant see the difference, yes the wingtip is not fat on the new one, but it could easily be just different antenna (rwr or something else)
There is difference. 9.41 wing is slightly longer, and flaps are slightly bigger (they protrude backwards, while 9.31 flaps are in line with aelerons)
Better missile load vs mirage and F-15E
Better FM
Good enough defensive kit
Radar is comparable to the mirage’s
It wins no problem
This is why I constantly see SMs loosing to mirages in random lobbies.
Ah yes, random lobbies are definitely a good way to test aircraft against each other
Can you think of a worse argument?
Good aircraft will perform good regardless of a skill level of a player.
Skill floors and skill ceilings are a thing.
Random are rarely a good way to compare vehicles directly anyways.
This was literally my point of an argument. Because Su-27SM has a higher skill floor than a Mirage, in my opinion, it is undeserving of a title of the best 14.0 aircraft
Skill floor is higher but the ceiling is much higher. Su-27sm can be a 14.3 and it’ll still be balanced
Not with a current state of a War Thunder playerbase. And this game is balanced around playerbase, not vehicle stats
?
It’s better than the mirage, objectively.
It’s better than the hornet.
It’s also better than the F-15.
It’s the best 14.0 plane but at 13.7
It’s jsut that the mirage has a better radar with better missiles so a brain off player can have better success in that than something like a mig-29/su-27 due to their anemic radars
Again, you are looking at just numbers. I am looking on how the aircraft will perform in hands of a large variety of players. Better aircraft will have more stable “average” results.
Player skill is not relevant with vehicle comparisons.
Player skill is always relevant because this game is PvP focused
Were comparing the aircraft’s capabilities with each other.
Not whether the average monkey can press it’s buttons better or not
Easier to use ≠ better
Harder to use ≠ worse
This is the most useless comparison ever. Aircrafts in this game never just fight against each other in an isolated space with 2 equally skilled pilots behind controls. This is a “spherical horse in a vacuum” scenario
The thing is that you have to compare skill floors most of the time.
It’s why Japanese props are so high up despite being objectively garbage and American props are severely undertiered
We assume equally skilled pilots (actually skilled players) because we can actually compare the vehicle’s capabilities without adding the RNG factor of whether a pilot has braincells or not.
