Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 Fulcrum - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 2)

Do we have any sources saying 29KR can use 77-1? I know they do but I just need a source to bug report it.

How can you tell the difference? (I’ve never seen a difference visually)

the rear is the best way to distinguish them, the R-77-1 has a much rounder rear end mean while the R-77 has a much sharper end less rounded back

Ohhh, I’ll remember this, Thanks.

Anything about the 29M?

Wait what, I’m missing something, i will take a look later

Isn’t it the wrong pylon for R-77?

no its got the AKU-170 on the right there

So the MiG-29K is clearly the best Fulcrum by a significant margin. It is still worse than the Su-27 / Su-27SM in almost every aspect. The difference in energy retention is still noticeable, although the MiG-29K compensates for it with its high thrust output. Even so, the MiG-29K’s peak sustained turn rate is still only around the minimum sustained turn performance of any Su-27 variant.

It is also worth noting that all aircraft are carrying the same amount of fuel

I don’t know whether this comparison between the vehicles is realistic, specifically whether the MiG-29K is actually that much superior to the other Fulcrums.

Or maybe Gaijin is simply trying to fix the MiG problem by adding a bit more lift and, in specficic, more thrust, effectively masking the flight model issues of the early MiGs with the MiG-29K.

Still, it is good to see that a Fulcrum is finally starting to perform slightly better.

BTW, the 29M still has 60 regular flares, but they added anti radiation and anti ship missiles to it

i have low hopes for this since Su-30SM2 is still missing OLS-35

you know that 1.6 tons of fuel is nothing in the flanker

thats like 15 to 20% fuel
and not representative at all

meanwhile thats 30% fuel in the 29K

OH my lord, THE PEAK GOT ADDED.

also isnt that a KR instead or K ?

In terms of weight efficiency, the heavier the aircraft is structurally and the less fuel it carries, the better it will look in this kind of comparison.
However, in War Thunder the MiG-29s appear to have higher fuel consumption than the Flankers, which complicates the comparison.
For a fair performance comparison, all aircraft should either carry the same fuel mass, or simply be tested at their minimum allowed fuel load. Comparing them by fuel percentage alone is misleading, because the same percentage does not represent the same fuel mass, endurance, or combat state across different aircraft

it is the KR and thats also how its called in the files
