Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 Fulcrum - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 2)

i saw reports that the small MiG-35 fleet they have has been deployed in Moscow for drone defense

it might be joeover for the future of fulcrums now…

They certainly have faster response time and flight cost than Su-35, so no wonder. But something like Yak-130 after modernisation could fulfill that role even better

Atleast not for Mig… on paper

Mikoyan is as alive as MiG-41

funny thing is that project will likely now be pursued by tupolev (PAK DP)

the mig29 died the day russian changed their prespevtive of a war.
they completly removed the close to border short landing field who of course the mig29 was built around it.

not to forget the fuel, hungry.

i read somewhere that mig29 escort more the heavy weight bomber inside russia rather then the su34 like the su35 is doing.

the other i could see it to be alive is if they use it as a trainer, but thinking about, i dont think russia has the luxury to use mig29/35 as a trainer when they have more cheaper solution like the yak130m

it wont die easy. maybe 20 more years.

20 more years of what it has been for the past few decades is not much better than death

tupolev is stealing that now

wait wut? did i miss a thing on that?
(source if possible)

i dont think you need a source tbh. tupolev has been the main heavy plane builder for many years now, its not new

Well yeah, however, afaik, the PAK-DP (heavy interceptor to replace the MiG-31) is still handled by MiG, as Tupolev is busy with the PAK-DA (next russian bomber) and modernising Tu-160’s

sorry i mixed the DP and DA

Aye, np
