Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 Fulcrum - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 2)

This is what i also was thinking about. At the end of the day it’s for them to decide, and this TVC system would be a lot more work than the one on Su-30s

like the countermeasure report on the MiG-29KR was just praying that it would stick based on their technical rule, and i have seen other people try the same on other stuff using gaijins own rule just to get shot down immediately.

i think the OVT on the 9.15 is maybe possible considering the factors we have:

We have 156 in the game

OVT was actually equipped on the 9.15 airframe

I think even gaijin realised that 32 countermeasures is just nowhere close enough for 13.7 but they also were hellbent on not lowering MiG-29K br (probably due to SMT existing at 13.3 and being quite a bit worse in terms of capabilities). If not for that, i think we could still be rocking 32 countermeasures (just like MiG-29M still sitting with 60 despite the bug report being accepted)

Adding extra flares to the MiG-29M would help a lot, especially considering they’re also regular flares and you need more pops for them to be effective

It would be incredible if they added the OVT modification to the 9.15, as it should be, especially since it already has the camouflage

The problem, as for gaijin rules, is in the fact that this airframe lost all of its avionics at the time when engines were installed. And because it is not RD-33K with TVC nozzles, but RD-33MK iirc, this technically means that it is a completely new aircraft

With the current SM2 being a “planned version” at best, there is a room to create something like MiG-35 tech demonstrator. AESA radar, HMD, 64 countermeasures, TVC engines and modern weaponry like R-77M. Kizvy will probably throw up on a Fantom after he sees this one, but it could be a very cool addition

Only if isnt a mig we are talking about, but yeah we should try atleast…

we are probably gonna get a 9.41SR with the Zhuk-M replaced for the Zhuk-AE or AM because it was planned + 64cm. this what im atleast expecting them to cook up considering their recent track record

Wasn’t it a 9.15 that used the Zhuk ae?
IMO if a plane never used Zhuk ae it shouldn’t get it.

Also, would modern mig-35 use Zhuk ae or Zhuk am?

Bruh, guess they saw PL-15 datamine and assumed other advanced/long range ARH missiles are coming and gonna be tested

two MiG-35 test units for the MMRCA were also equipped with the FGA-29 Zhuk-AE

probably the AM model since it seems to be the newest.

but tbh the whole Zhuk AESA development becomes a mess after the initial FGA-29 Zhuk-AE first shown for the Indians in 2007, with it kinda just being in development hell with several Zhuk AESAs having been shown but non actually fitted to a jet.

Initial FGA-29 Zhuk-AE shown in 2007 only mounted in 9-15D, 9-61 and 9-67:

FGA-50 Zhuk-AME: Most likely a mock up only since it was installed in a pre existing MiG-29M 9-41S to promote the future MiG-35 from MAKS 2019
