The MiG-29KR does not look that bad in the end. Thankfully, they gave it 64 large caliber flares, although not being able to carry the R-27 is a very big downgrade.
They have basically removed the MiG-29K’s long range BVR capability in a BVR focused meta. The R-27ER was used for that role, even if it is a Fox 1, because the R-77 is more of a medium to short range missile and is very ineffective in long range shots. That is exactly why the R-77-1 was introduced.
If they remove the R-27ER and do not give it the R-77-1, the aircraft loses almost all of its value in BVR, and it forces you to fly in a passive and sneaky way to get closer. The MiG-29K can carry the R-77-1, so if the ER is taken away, it should receive the R-77-1 to remain at least minimally competitive, especially considering it only carries six Fox 3 missiles at 13.7.

He was rebuked when USSR MiGs were in question. But, technical compatibility beats everything, or so they say. If MiG-29 can get R-27ER, it can get chaff as well

It’s nice that in the end it’s going to be at least playable. Still inferior to the premium Su-30s at 13.3 but what can you do, those things are as good as most 13.7s (I will die on this hill)
MiG-29K really shouldn’t be 13.3, as much as I’d like it to be there, it’s simply better than the MiG-29N
(again another arguement to move the Su-27SM up to 14.0, where it belongs)
It really sucks that it lost it’s ability to use the R-27 and I’m not entirely sure if it can carry 8x R-77, many people here can correct me as they are more knowledgeable lol
There is still a potentially devastating nerf can happen. RD-33MK are operating at 0% intake loss right now and with emergency thrust to boot. Unless gaijin has something more substantial that can prove that current thrust is correct - we might loose around a ton of thrust per engine
