that is the curse of mechanically scanned radars, guiding in your missiles is annoying because the update rate is doodoo and ghosting is 20x worse than that of an ESA radar, so yeah, you end up using HMD because it’s faster and more reliable.
At least the Zhuk’s got good azimuth, the 27sm radar on the other hand is horrible in that regard.

In the past, a 20x10 scanning range could be used relatively smoothly. At the worst, the target could be detected and locked within a range of 30 kilometers, and then the missile could be launched.

did anyone report the missing centerline drop tank on the 29K?

In the past, when someone submitted an issue regarding Chinese fighter jets, they released a photo showing ground weapons hanging on the wings as evidence. They replied that it was just a plastic model. This is absurd. Do we have to steal the technical manual from them and then be imprisoned to prove what weapons a plane has?
One advantage of the Zhuk was also guiding in the R-27’s while being turned 85 degrees to the side, but since those missiles are now removed that advantage is also buried and gone.
