Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 Fulcrum - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 1)

as I thought the mig29a is missing the wing lift force
circle with line - su27
triangles - mig29

Spoiler

su-27 has more lift force with at crit aoa with sharp influx and no advanced adaptive wing lmao

Spoiler

also funniest thing now we get 9-15, and now it equal to mig29a but only in range 30-40aoa🤣

so i think we need 3-4 years and maybe on mig35 with 46m2 wing we get 9-12fm 🤣🤣

get those reports pumped out then, better to try and have it denied then let it sit and rot without doing anything

bro, how do you imagine a report about Сy from a 3rd party source about something I can only know by statshark (datamine reports rejected according to the rules)
and btw i already create this Community Bug Reporting System
it will be 100% denined due statshark charts
upd
i alr deleted statshark charts, so it will be denined for reason like “there is no methods to measure the Cy in game”

never think a heavier variant turns faster than the original

If they have identical aerodynamics - sure, but 29M is quite different

UAC stand does feature a MiG-29KUB mock-up with R-77s on outermost pylons

maybe if it had larger wings

What about elevators? They also generate lift and are used in turning.

its turns faster than the SMT despite being heavier so i guess they did their job

Yes, but SMT also has worse TWR and worse lift generation at high AOA due to less effective LERX design and leading edge slats of smaller size. I am not an engineer, but those factors also should make a difference, right?

did the f15e have larger wings?

The real graph shows that the MiG-29 achieves a higher maximum lift coefficient than the Su-27 and maintains better performance at high angles of attack, reaching up to approximately 60°. This indicates that the MiG-29 has an aerodynamic advantage in extreme maneuvers, I supose due to the vortices generated by its LERX, which delay stall and maintain lift.

But in WT shows the opposite behavior before and after the Flankers FM fix, all Flankers has higher maximum lift and maintains better performance at high angles of attack, while the MiG-29 loses performance much earlier.

This is if the graph you have provided is true, although there are others that show the same results or conclusions. But this is not new.

how do you think did they manage to fit to extra pylons

i also suspect they might be larger because of the extra pylons too but im not sure

Gordon book shows exactly the same wing dimensions.

Reposting my findings from some thread to here, might make a more comprehensive list later.

VMAF MiG-29K/KUB → 9.41R/47R
IAF MiG-29K/KUB → 9.41/47 (?)
MiG-29M/M2 → 9.41S/47S
MMRCA trial MiG-35/35D → 9.61/67
MiG-35/35D → 9.41D/47D
Egyptian 29M/M2 → 9.41SM/47SM
MiG-35S/UB → 9.41SR/47SR

@kizvy You’ll likely find this rather curious as well.

you could also include the 9.15? white 154 MiG-29M2 MRCA and 9.15D blue 154 MiG-35

Yeaaaaah i’ll do that after I get back… feeling lazy now.
