Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 Fulcrum - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 1)

Horizontal rotation works. Only vertical doesn’t

3 positions, not smooth rotation. Although, as I showed above, discrete control with 3 zones is only in the case of manual control, not automatic

bc the pilot in the cockpit has a 3 way switch for azimut

Please read

Selector “targeting” : auto or manual

Do you have full source? And can you share it if you do?

I have it, but I can’t share it because it was bought for a decent amount of money, not by me, for study. But this is just what is written in the cabin, there is essentially no need for a book here

Essentially, it says here that the 3 zones are only available in manual mode.

And the elevation angle can be freely adjusted in any mode.

Not always, contextual information about how radar works is also important. That’s why judging just by button description might lead to incorrect conclusions

thats why i said that the PILOT only has a 3 way switch

i know that GCSI can smoothly move the radar

and i also know that there are narrow scan patterns when GCSI is controling the radar

can you decipher. I don’t know all the English abbreviations.

Ground Control something something
also known as the automatic mode

Oh yeah, people often forget that USSR had ground control command line since like MiG-21 days.

well they started properly integrating it on the Mig-23 from the start and on the Mig-21 it was only a later upgrade

I wonder if UAC has some data on MiG-29M flight performance. It was pretty much fully approved for purchase by the airforce, so some sort of a manual should’ve exist already/

from this angle this kinda f16 lookalike

can you send full? I think i dont have it

iam certain that you dont have those docs, i fished them out of the german archives
those are east german pilot training manuals or the litteral translation “Study materials”

Studienmaterial.- “Die Gefechtseigenschaften des Jagdflugzeuges MiG-29” von Oberst Prof. Dr. sc. mil Dr.-Ing. Siegfied Meindl und Oberst Doz. Dr. sc. mil. Joachim Klopfer

Studienmaterial.- “Visiersysteme der Jagdflugzeuge MiG-23 ML und MiG-29” von Oberst Dr. rer. mil. Heinz Sauerbier

the second one is what i used for my mig-29 hud reports 6 months ago…
ig there arent any tech mods that dare to touch german sources for aircraft

it’s the one of sources that I was using for my old mig-29 gimbal limits report, it’s why I thought mig-29 gimbal was 65/65 for azimuth, 56/36 for elevation and not 70/70 for azimuth and 60/40 for elevation

I was thinking about working on the HUD, but I have a more detailed and simpler description in Russian in the book I sent, so a German one is probably unnecessary.

Also, I’d say that HUD reports should be done something like this:

  1. A screenshot of the HUD mode from the game.
  2. A description of everything that’s wrong with it and how it should be.

Making one report for each feature when the HUD as a whole isn’t accurate is extremely inconvenient.
