what is soft aoa limit exactly?
I mean for mig-29m, mig29 og also has 24 soft limit
its when the mechanical “FCS” will make it harder to pull on the stick
so you can go further than 24°aoa but you will need to pull with like 15kg of force iirc (if not more)
They reject it.
Well, since I no longer know where to get the information, because you can’t provide official sources, I’m just going to drop the report. I’ll keep living knowing that something is wrong and they know it but they ignore it. I’m done with this MiG-29 topic.

this right here isnt a secondary source

and you cant report the coefficent of lift in the first place

I wonder, this maximum aoa number of 30 degrees that was set for FBW is a soft cap or hard cap? Or with digital FBW this terminology doesn’t work anymore?
probably not
its essentially the same as the flanker fcs with 24 being the ‘soft’ limit then u can disable that and pull it past that if u want. Just with OG mig they did that via a mechanical system that used a pitch kicker and a 15 kg of force to pull through that mechanism in order to get more AoA, but with 29M they used a fcs same as on the flanko. The terminology is still just denoting a similar end result of a max AoA under normal operation
Please gaijin dont drop the ball on the 9.15’s flight performance 🙏
So, 30 degrees is a soft cap that can be disabled via button? I understand it correctly?
yes, afaik the fcs should be directly similar to the flanko in that regard
I understand. Imagine this situation just for an example, setting the report aside. You know that some values of the FM are wrong, but you can’t make a report because you have no way to justify it according to Gaijin’s requirements. What would you do? Would you just let it go, or would you try to fix it to achieve the most realistic MiG-29 flight model possible? The problem is that since you can’t justify it 100% the way Gaijin requires, the report gets rejected, or maybe this time I just made a shitty report, even though they are aware of the issue, even if you provide related information.
Well, this one was the first digital FBW on a Soviet aircraft. Another interestin thing that chief designer said that this limit was just intial setup for testing and that it will be increased afterwards.
yes because there is no data on the mig29m
sure the Cl is wrong, but what should it be?
sure its turnrate might be wrong, but what should it be?
it is pointless to make reports like:
“I know it is wrong but idk what it should be, figure it out yourself”
its just a pos topic to try and get changed purely due to gaijin’s asinine rules that prevent u from mentioning any datamined figures. Not really your fault bro, obviously it would stand to reason that it should produce more lift. It’s just with that stuff (as i understand it) u basically have to have sources that could outline either the specific values or a known performance improvement range of that value over the predecessor airframe - then gaijin would take that into consideration and change their fm accordingly (not to the same values tho as gaijin doesnt model things in a way that would match 1-1 with such irl figures).
You know what’s interesting?
these are, iirc, parts of the EW suite of the Fulcrum. Why would gaijin bother to model those modules if EW isn’t in the game yet? Could it be something currently in development?
Yeah.
Even though the problem is logical and just common sense from an aerodynamic point of view.
surface A ≠ surface B, therefore surface A should behave differently from surface B.
If they behave the same despite being different, it points to poor modeling of the flight model.
might be because of anti radiation stuff as well
you remember the ESM radar mode that apeared in the datamines?
my guess is that its the mode you would use to launch anti radiation missiles
Yep, unfortunately its one of those things where we are entirely at the mercy of gaijin modeling things with ‘common sense’ as it where. And we know how that can turn out - but at least we still have plenty of time on dev left so there is hope that things may change - even if it might not be so likely based on the set precedent lmao
