they now have TWS modes like other radars in the game, with auto tracking in both axis and smooth gimbal movement instead of 3 discreet zones

Having R-77-1, R-27ERs and Zhuk-M on a good airframe…
Ugh, I want it.
At the same time the speed of Zhuk-A is super nice.
Now imagine 27ER’s on Zhuk-A, incredibely hard to notch just like IRBIS :D

Thats perfect, i can finally use my TWS modes however i like to, no more stuck in certain angles anymore.
I don’t think it’s the airframe, I’m sure if they tried hard enough they could make a gimbaled Zhuk-A and stuff it in a MiG-35.
But fixed plate AESAs only scan 60-70* max. :/
Nose cone is pretty small so it def affects that i believe.

For sure, but Gimbaled AESAs have been stuffed into smaller planes (like the Grippy-E)
Bars-29. It’s PESA, but still has better gimbals. I think it’s just Phazotron not having enough money to go trough some serious design improvements. This is still pretty much their first AESA radar

Wouldn’t it have the same gimbal as N011M? I thought it was just a Bars radar shrunk down for the MiG-29?
And Bars has 10 degrees more. But yeah, it’s not a massive improvement
Maybe something like FGA-35 dish could be pushed fruther into a separate gimbal
