Personally I wouldn’t mind.
I like the insane gimbal of Zhuk-M. Plus it would be really good at 14.0.
Though, I do also think the Zhuk-A is nice…

Well, this one is an official airframe technology demonstrator of the MiG-35 platform, even if it’s an older 9.41S airframe
14.0 means almost every single match will be 14.3-14.7 which means Zhuk-M will pretty much struggle.
With AESA radar you will at least get amazing scan speed and NCTR while still retaining pretty good gimbal limits.
I do like Zhuk-M but its not 14.0 material.
neither do i, it isn’t some super overpowered radar with 120 degrees of gimbal (or 100 degrees like on EFT), in some ways it’s even worse than Zhuk-M. I will not have any problems with it staying or being replaced. I just trying to be objective
also the model appears to be of the later zhuk-ae from maks 2019 instead of the early one from the 9.15D
When looking at the top of section of the dish with TR modules

Not really.
There’s a ton of premiums at 13.0 and 13.3 (cough cough Su-30).
I played the F-15E a few days ago and was consistantly getting 13.3-14.3 matches.
Nah i got you dont worry, i just dont like when people try to butcher something nice.
You dont see them complaining about EFT with AESA radar but when it comes to Russian jets oh boy…
it’s also implied by the stats, iirc 9.15D version with reduced TRM amount only had around 130km of detction range. In-game we have 200 if i’m not mistaken
Many such cases.
And i was getting constant uptiers in my F15E, even in Golden Eagle.
At 14.0 mech radars starts to struggle, especially Zhuk-M since scan speed is quite low, at least for my taste.
how much you wanna bet that people will still find Sparrows trash even after the buff?
Yeah, if SM2 can get IRBIS and AL-41 our MİG35 surely can get Zhuk-A
Myech and Rubin got very substantial buff, if you missed that part in your abscense
they did accept an report on the IRBIS on the SM2 just for them to reject it later so the same might just happen here
Accepted just means that devs are gonna look into that, doesn’t mean that they will agree or implement it
I’m really looking forward to the new sparrows. Especially on my F-2…
I was banned for couple days so i didn’t followed it closely.
Apperantly if you dont agree with other people and make your statements slightly harsh but true you can easily get ban from certain people on general discussion cough cough…
Anyway im done with that place, it contains so many toxic people who openly mocks but doesnt get punish as long as most people agree with them.
At this point, adding the MiG-35S with yet another mechanically scanned Zhuk-M would make very little sense. It would effectively be the fourth Fulcrum in the game using essentially the same type of radar, despite the MiG-35 being the one aircraft in the family that gives Gaijin a legitimate opportunity to introduce something substantially more advanced.
Yes, the early Russian MiG-35S aircraft were equipped with the mechanically scanned Zhuk-M, and that configuration is historically valid. However, the Zhuk-AE was not simply a theoretical or brochure only option for the MiG-35. It was actually integrated and installed on a MiG-35S 9.41SR configuration. Because of development delays, production issues, and the overall situation surrounding the program at the time, the decision was ultimately made not to field it broadly on the Russian aircraft. But that does not change the key point: the MiG-35 was capable of carrying the Zhuk-AE, and the radar was physically integrated on the platform.
That makes the Zhuk-AE configuration entirely reasonable for War Thunder. The question is not whether every operational MiG-35S received it, because they did not, but whether the aircraft could actually use it. And in this case, the answer is clearly yes.
Giving the MiG-35S the Zhuk-M would waste one of the main opportunities to actually differentiate it from the other Fulcrums. We already have several aircraft built around mechanically scanned Zhuk radars; there is very little value in adding another top tier Fulcrum that repeats essentially the same radar capability when this aircraft can legitimately represent the Zhuk-AE configuration.
Dropping it to 14.0 just to justify keeping the mechanical radar would be an even worse solution. It would still regularly face 14.3 aircraft in uptiers, except it would be doing so with a mechanically scanned radar against significantly more advanced radar sets. If it is going to fight essentially the same top tier aircraft anyway, keeping it at 14.3 with the Zhuk-AE is a far more sensible solution. It gives the aircraft an actual technological distinction, makes its BR justified, and finally gives the Fulcrum line a meaningful radar upgrade instead of repeating the same setup for a fourth time.
F-15A gonna be so cracked. I catched MK2s from 30km with sparrows before, now it’s gonna be even funnier. Also F-14D in the tech tree. US might be back in the popular kids club
That’s a rip.
From my experience its mostly downtiers at 14.0.
That’s fair, I just prefer having the extra gimbal.
