Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-25 & MiG-31 Foxbat / Foxhound - History, Design, Performance & Dissection

You are being very confidentially incorrect. Solid rockets are solved technology and have been since the 70s. You can’t get more impulse from rocket than physics allows and you just going on with what paper takes is very silly. And for space reasons - nozzles in small missiles are very (and visibly) inadequate for getting that last 10-15% of vaccum (well 10km in game reality) performance

But we are going very off topic on something that you know very little about. Im arguing where i see number that is instantly wrong - this means it has to be egregiously wrong. So i open calc and run even basic numbers - sometimes we have very good sources on motor masses, sometimes we don’t and have to see if mass ratios for this type would make sense with claimed warhead sizes and adding similar overheads for sensors and electronics.

There are some issues in game due to engine limitations - Aster should be better, pantsir should be slightly worse - mostly due to drag calculations not being done for multi stage missiles. But overall across the range missiles in game are mostly fine

the irony of saying that just before being confidently incorrect

the Meteor isnt using a solid rocket booster

it uses a ramjet

Oh dear…

You’re not very good at this are you? I can say that both CONFIDENTIALLY and confidently…

I’ll leave it to the other posters to take you apart piece by piece.

If you don’t know what a ramjet is - I think things like electricity, running water might blow your mind! You should probably look up how Meteor and other long-range missiles work before trying to claim you know best…

i dont think he will respond anymore after being so “confidentially incorrect”

it dosent take more than a basic google search to find out that the meteor uses a ramjet

You are literally responding to a strawmen? I never said what you’re arguing against

I am actually going to retain that phrase.

YOU SIR! Are CONFIDENTIALLY INCORRECT!

Which is the worst kind of incorrect! Because no bugger knows about it!

so you are arguing in bad faith, got it

why write a wall of text to talking about solid rocket boosters when trying to say that the meteor cant possible achive the claimed ranges

a missile that isnt using a solid rocket booster

Would also work for someone who knows they are wrong but still keeps going

well that isnt part of British English
but WT Forum English

None of you yet responded to any of my calculations with some kind of reasonable explaination.

Just throwing paper pages and not actually engaging with why they would be wrong.

Or like here you start insulting. And im not gonna continue why

you didnt share any calculations

you just say you calculated something after talking about solid rocket boosters which are irrelevant for the Meteor

all iam seeing is a boatload of cope

Firstly, no, I didn’t search the forum for a few days to find the screenshot. It is national holidays in my country so I’m on vacation and aways from my Laptop.

Secondly, if you actually learned how to use the search function of the forum and know how to read, you would have known that the screenshot I posted is very much relevant to the discussion currently happening. Why? Because, the whole discussion between me and Gitgood started with me replied to that specific comment that he made in the screenshoot I posted.

So you are wrong, again, as usual

First you claimed that I was the one who first brought up the 11G value in this thread => easily proven wrong with 1 second of using the search function

Then you claimed that Gitgood didn’t brought up the 11G value => easily proven wrong again just by using either Ctrl+F or search function

Then you claimed that my screenshot is irrelevant to the discussion currently happening because “it was a few months ago” => easily proven wrong, you literally just have to click at the name tag between me and Gitgood to see where and how the discussion between me and him started. It literally started with that specific comment.

Tbh its very surprising the quoted range is so… small. Is it actually crossrange? Or is the overhead of all the things needed to work not actually that worth at MRAAM scale and it basically ends up barely better than rockets

The actual problems with meteor tho - hit speed might or might not be matched by missiles with 2 pulses but the reality is how maneuverable can meteor be - it has to keep its engine fed with air, the intakes can stall at AoA and are not symetrical - so it would be rolling missile (still keep in mind some AoA turn limits)

Drama inside

Spoiler

I literally tell you’re strawmaning and you are inventing another strawman.

I literally only commented why comparing ranges is useless - probably bit aggresively

The guy talking with me understands im making fun of the exact kind of paper range posting that is the most useless in air to air missile discussions.
meanwhile you go in bring me breaking down things in other threads about missiles

assume i make calculations about meteor or whatever - your strawman

And now are asking for calculation about meteor which i never claim to have or done.

And to keep it actually real in thread instead of throwing insults:

you know what

i did that and all iam seeing is that you are the one that is not understanding the arguement @GitGood made

you said well actually the F-4 also withstood 12Gs once

and the counter argument was that it is not compareable to the Mig-25 bc unlike the F-4 the Mig-25 is only rated for 5Gs and not for 8 or 9Gs like the phantom

so the phantom is is recorded to exceed its rated limit by a factor of 1.71 ( 12/7)
but the Mig-25 by a factor of 2.2 (11/5)
there was also a case of a F-15 pulling 14Gs iirc which would be exceeding its rated G load of 9Gs by a factor of ~1.6 (14/9)

where do rockets come into a convo about a ramjet missile. and no, solid fuel is not a solved technology, nothing within chemistry is 100% solved.

Shhhhh… I don’t think anybody’s told him that bit yet.

That’s really optimistic, at least in my opionion.

While it is true that a CM disclosure and leak talked about this, I feel that these plans might have slid forward a bit.

Could be wrong though, and only time can tell.

I wouldn’t mind seeing early 5th gen additions, but at the same time I think adding this stuff with no proper ECM or rushed RCS profiles is not gonna end well.
