is it automatic? I don’t see how its automatic, automatic vs manual is for something else (seems like steering of radar)

@k_stepanovich can you explain
pilot controled vs GCSI controled
but yeah mti seems like it shouldn’t be activated below 1000m at all, maybe I read the german manual wrong as well for the mig-23, though that’s a slightly different radar. I’ll probably throw up a report on MTI being erroneously activated below 1000m for mig-25

One more battle.
But yeah its pretty damning on the mig-25. Probably shouldve caught this earlier

“Modes are selected automatically in tracking” i think he means this, as when plane is in tracking it automatically goes between MTI modes depending on the exact scenario in MTI mode table
i dont see them reworking the radar anytime soon
so basically pulse every where except mti is activated for when chaff is detected between 1000m - 3000m, and seperation is between 1000-2000m.
And then it switches automatically. Makes sense
yeah
so the Mig-25 (probably the Mig-23 as well) should go from the BS mode to MTI to the IRST whenever one of the modes is losing lock
it seems to have a similar function the f-4s irst (irl) or f-14 irst which can slave radar missiles to it because of the slaving of the cw illuminator

but they wont add it cause they didn’t add it to f-14s
Imagine irst guided radar missiles where you don’t get much penalty for ground clutter (still get launch warning tho)
basically guaranteed kill below 10 km

we dont have a f-14 with IRST
Dude this thing is actually so relaxing to play. honestly kinda love it more than I expected.
Small nitpick… I think this is a manual for Mig25P not PD that is in the game (early 60’s vs early 70’s)

This is what Mig25P used (i think it is called “Tornado” and it had modification up to 70’s called Tornado-A1-A2-A3-A4 where every new version “attempted” to lower its working altitudes" this is why i think it has that weird MTI working table in the manual)

This is what Mig25PD used, it is the “Saphir 25 that is based on Mig23’s Saphir 23”
Su-30 Scan mode 2
yeah that would make sense, though what are the differences (devs rejected one of my bug reportscause of that)
nah the M stands for MiG as established here:
Su-30 scan mig 2 then
they only accepeted reports from this manual

and not this

even though the speed chart is the ltieral same in both of them (and thus overperforming) which makes 0 sense why theyre modeling it as a mach 3 fighter
