Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-23 'FLOGGER' - History, Design, Performance & Dissection

updated the mti report in the comments.
When firing upon a target with the r-24 missile, the current implementation in game is correct, with it automatically switching between mti and normal pulse mode.
So currently the radar is low k overperforming when in track mode and launch mode.
Underperforming in search mode.

whille locking, no mti

because there’s no filter, it’s almost impossible getting a lock below 1000m
Gl if you were a real pilot lol

Spoiler

americans had f-14 by the time mig-23mls came around btw

Its not right. Youre completely forgetting the BS modes

when locking and firing a missile?

BS modes is selected for both search and firing, yes.

And I swear to god if I need to have another debate about what counts as passive jamming, and whether or not it can be used in look up I am going to actually lose it.

Yes you could fire R-24 with MTI even in lookup.

where does it say this?
The bs mode is not used for ground clutter rejection remember that, only chaff and clouds.

“detection, acquisition and automatic tracking of aerial targets” obviously this means to also guide the missile. (as it is not specified for all of the other modes this can be assumed true for all of them, unless said otherwise)

Also yes BS is 100% used for ground clutter rejection come on dude, ive gone over this so many times

even in german it says that the BS modes only work for detecting aquiring and STT

but it says nothing about launching missiles

no it probably means STT

The specific document doesnt say anything about launching missiles for all of the modes because it is specifically about the MiG-23ML radar set and not missile

The r-24 manual and mig-23 radar manuals never state that it’s for ground clutter rejection though, after re reading the russian manual you notice that it only states for “clouds and interference” (probably ecm and chaff)

and?

CW is part of the radar set

And?? It can obviously be assumed it can also fire in that mode lmao, what other nonsense would it be otherwise, even actual MiG-23 pilot has confirmed it in Razbam discord

Yes it specifies it is for low altitude use so obviously it must have some form of ground clutter rejection though. Nice one

so how are you firing a CW missile, without your radar switching into CW

You dont manually switch on CW in the MiG-23?? It is done by the firing system lol

considering how blind the radar is at altitudes below 1.5km i doubt the radar has any form of ground clutter rejection.
It never states that it has it

Here you go mate. Now try to twist this your way lmao

where did i say that you have to do it manually

and again it dosent say anything about radar missiles

you seem to not realize that the R-23 and R-24 work differently

with the R-23 being a pulse missile and the R-24 being a CW missile

infact your manual has nothing about the R-24
