Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-23 'FLOGGER' - History, Design, Performance & Dissection

Bruh. They should give back manual MTI. If they cant model that radar properly so they should give version which is most similar to irl one.

Interesting. Pitty that I cant see any other source which would mention that variant. Lack of informations is same like in R-24MR case but in that case there was much more sources about that.

A week ago, I came across a manual for the MIG-23MLA radar, which describes how to work with the radar. And it has an interesting description of some functionality, for example, the Doppler filter selection knob from 3 positions, front hemisphere, rear hemisphere and off, which suggests that this radar still has a Doppler filter, not MPI, but a filter by operating modes. So it is necessary to implement its 3 modes of operation: the selection of moving targets, the front hemisphere, the selection of moving targets, the rear hemisphere, and the usual search. Using radar will become a little more difficult, but it will no longer be useless.

"The radar works depending on the hemisphere of attack and the speed
of the attacked target using the switch PPS —MSCTS —ZPS.

  • in the MSCC position, a low—speed target is attacked (the speed selection scheme is excluded);
  • in the positions of the ZPS, the PPS is an attack from the rear and
From the front hemisphere in manual mode."

(the speed selection scheme is excluded). That is, let’s go from the opposite, if there is a switch that disables speed selection, then the radar can work in this mode.

The document is searchable, so you can copy the necessary paragraphs into the translator to translate.

Unfortunately without the cover

Yeah missing regimes are already reported in community gaijin. But Gaijin is too slow to implement it.

Thanks for file btw. I will look on that. :)

I have the same exact complaint and also source, the problem is that if we were to actually properly report this, wouldn’t we need the full combat employment manual? Like I don’t think Gaijin is going to accept some part of the manual as source without the full one.

In most cases, only the cover is important (on which the use fund should be written). If necessary, Gaijin can request a document from the archive by using the number on the cover. In special cases, you must provide a complete document.

I think everyone should contribute to this.

I’m tired of fighting it. This is some kind of theater of the absurd.

Gaijin is just not MiG pilled anymore, look at the MiG-23, the MiG-29s…
Fucked up radar, and the MiG-29s are underperforming like crazy and we’ve had like none in the past 2 years.
I also used to fight it a lot like you, but I just started to not care anymore even tho the 23 is one of my favorite planes, I just gave up I guess.

The mig-29 is overperforming in sustained rate… Is it not?

I doubt it, but regardless, the MiG-29 is a bad example I guess as it is close if not matching IRL performance, and perhaps it is the CL/CD that is fucked idk but I guess its the opponents it fights that are overperforming.
I’ve never heard the 29 overperforming in STR tho, by how much would it be?

I posted a chart

Damn so it is overperforming by like 2-3 degrees/s?

Do you know what madness is?

can you explain?
iam not able to read russian and most of the times translators are not the best when it comes to translating russian

Unfortunately, my knowledge of English is not enough to explain such complex things, so I mostly use machine translation services myself. But in short, I’m trying to explain to the developers how the MIG-23 radar should work according to the documentation, taking into account the mechanics of the game.
