New bug report, the MiG-23MLD is incorrectly equipped with SPO-15 instead of SPO-15LM
https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/AXcMoWVPsHOM
would that even make a difference ingame?
Its just about making it historically accurate
Is the MLD’s radar better than that of the ML in game? I know it was better IRL so im wondering if gaijin actually bothered to implement it
I think Gaijin is already quite fed up with all this fuss around the MiG-23. From a consumer’s perspective, it would be much fairer to rename the ML to the MLD since they introduced the plane in the exact configuration it was originally sold in (when I bought it, it had the SPO-15). At the moment, I consider the ML to be one of the worst premium aircraft for ASB. Its radar is a Soviet embarrassment, the SPO-10 has no friend-or-foe filtering, the cockpit visibility is terrible—all it has are missiles and speed, but that’s of little use when you have Mirages and Viggens nearby with far superior equipment. Right now, I see only one solution that might interest Gaijin: the option to upgrade the ML to the MLD version for Golden Eagles, similar to the F-89B → D in the US tech tree. Since the MLD is now in the researchable tree, I’ve recently preferred flying the MLD over the ML, so I’d like to have this upgrade option.
My English isn’t strong enough to properly post this suggestion on the forum, so I’d really appreciate it if an English-speaking player could create a formal proposal about this issue. Here are the key points to include:
- Original Configuration: The MiG-23ML was initially sold with the SPO-15 RWR and had significantly better flight performance than it does now. Later, Gaijin removed the SPO-15 and nerfed its performance, while the MLD remained largely unchanged.
- Historical Feasibility: Upgrading the ML to MLD standards was done in real life. Technical bulletins were issued for maintenance crews, and these modifications were performed in active military units—no factory return was needed.
Of course, such an upgrade wouldn’t be free.
Yes, some MLs were upgraded to MLD standard and exported without some of the structural upgrades recieved in the Soviet ones. However that would just transform the ML into the MLD, and would not justify another $80 premium in my opinion.
I believe i remember the Iraqi Air Force modified some of their MLs with SPO-15s taken from other aircraft. I’d have to look into it
Try flying the F-4E
what about it?
has anyone noticed R24R dont give RWR warnings ?
and i know its the R24R it tells me it doesnt set off warnings which is really weird as no other missile does this has this been bug reported ?
SARH missiles dont have emissions, they just follow the radars illumination. The plane your flying may not pick up the radar band that the sapfir-23ML/A operates on.
There are a few RWRs that cannot detect the J-Band Radar of the Mig23 and will not give you a launch warning
thats very silly and should be fixed for balance reasons as there RWR could not detect PD locks
it isnt a bug
and the mig-23 isnt a PD radar
it is historically accurate that RWRs are limited to certain frequcies
Mig 23 rwr historically could not detect pd locks gaijin buffed it so it could cause sim players complained
Being historically accurate is fine but it should not come at cost of balance this is a game
it dosent matter on the SPO-10 because it dosent even have IFF
and they did the exact same for the F-14A btw
F14A is a mess doesnt have half the features it should
that is completly irrelevant
Mig-23 is missing half of its HUD
and the radar is an absolute mess
