Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-23 'FLOGGER' - History, Design, Performance & Dissection

In most cases, only the cover is important (on which the use fund should be written). If necessary, Gaijin can request a document from the archive by using the number on the cover. In special cases, you must provide a complete document.

I think everyone should contribute to this.

I reordered the pages of the drive so now you can see them in a more organized manner, always forgot to do it lol.

I’m tired of fighting it. This is some kind of theater of the absurd.

Gaijin is just not MiG pilled anymore, look at the MiG-23, the MiG-29s…
Fucked up radar, and the MiG-29s are underperforming like crazy and we’ve had like none in the past 2 years.
I also used to fight it a lot like you, but I just started to not care anymore even tho the 23 is one of my favorite planes, I just gave up I guess.

The mig-29 is overperforming in sustained rate… Is it not?

I doubt it, but regardless, the MiG-29 is a bad example I guess as it is close if not matching IRL performance, and perhaps it is the CL/CD that is fucked idk but I guess its the opponents it fights that are overperforming.
I’ve never heard the 29 overperforming in STR tho, by how much would it be?

I posted a chart

Damn so it is overperforming by like 2-3 degrees/s?

Do you know what madness is?

can you explain?
iam not able to read russian and most of the times translators are not the best when it comes to translating russian

Unfortunately, my knowledge of English is not enough to explain such complex things, so I mostly use machine translation services myself. But in short, I’m trying to explain to the developers how the MIG-23 radar should work according to the documentation, taking into account the mechanics of the game.

ah ok, i know what is fundamentely wrong with it.

Because I have the East-German Mig-23 manual

In particular, I’m saying that the mechanics of the game do not take into account the changing tilt of the radar antenna during gating. and that in real life, the radar can make part of the passes in the PSK(SRC) mode, and the other part in the SDC(MPI)mode. And if the mechanics of the game do not allow you to simulate this behavior, then you should turn on the SDC(MPI) mode with an average antenna tilt below 7 degrees to the horizon.
I also described a new problem with the radar that appeared after their “fix”.

there is also this bug-report in english describing the same problem:
https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/vQbSF865Q4V8

Radar Search Mode Behavior and Suggested SDC Threshold Adjustment

When the antenna operates in search mode, it tilts slightly up and down, allowing the radar to perform multiple scan passes. The Moving Target Detection (MTD) mode activates when the antenna tilts below 2.5 degrees relative to the horizon.

Now, consider a scenario where the antenna’s average tilt is exactly 2.5 degrees. What happens in this case? The antenna completes 4 passes per full scan:

  • 2 passes above 2.5 degrees (operating in search mode, or “PSK”).
  • 2 passes below 2.5 degrees (operating in MTD mode, or “SDC”).

However, the game’s current mechanics do not accurately simulate this behavior. To better reflect real-world radar operation and improve gameplay consistency, I propose increasing the SDC activation threshold to 7 degrees.

Yes, I am aware of this report, and I checked it out, but I created my own report anyway, as I believe that I have accurately defined the mechanics of radar behavior in it, taking into account the current mechanics of the game. Well, it’s just easier for me to describe the problem in my native language.
