I get like 75% downtiers to 12.7 which helps the mig29N alot. The other 25% is 13.7-14.3 which it doesn’t suffer too much as everyone is playing 14.7 and the 14.3 planes are usually just f18, f15, and the occasional typhoon. 13.3-13.7 seems balanced to me as I am able to win most fights. Playing against the su30 premiums are a pain though. I mainly just flank, spam fox3, get 3-5 kills, and run back to the airfield or bait enemies into chasing me so my teammates can kill them. Basically be aggressive in downtiers. In uptiers, just wait out the initial missile spam and then go in. The mig29N is fast so use that to get in good positions on the map.

But fr, do you generally multipath with radar facing upwards, or do you magically flank from the higher altitudes ?

If it was not for the sales, I would put it at 13.0 as its the worst 13.3 imo. It’s about the same as the 13.0 german f4.
mid altitudes, drop down to multipath incoming missiles.
spading it rn, and gotta say it feels like rage bait playing it compared to the 13.3 flankers.
Literally worse in every way other than top speed.
Also having to go through each r-27 modification separately is pure torture, gaijin i curse you

btw what the hell is this cone in front of an IRST that makes it essentially blind?
It’s on some images of the MiG-29N, so not just a modelling mistake, but I don’t know what it is exactly. My best guess is maybe some form of protective cover, but it doesn’t actually cover the whole thing and there is other covers for it.
Malaysians just make their IRST half blind for the sake of sportsmanship.

Yeah, there is gonna be a difference when they add PL-12A and AIM-120D to top tier and the 13.7s and 14.0s won’t have them.

Afaik in game you are either generic fox3 or mica (seeker wise)
More range, I don’t think they’re gonna change the seekers anytime soon maybe, maybe until Q1 or Q2 update

i enjoy the aircraft, my main issues are the RWR and the fuel efficiency, wouldn’t say it’s the worst 13.3 maybe over tired, more so with the prem flanker, I think it’s solid and can hold its own in upteirs
Honestly, I don’t really understand the hate. Like yea, the radar can be annoying at long ranges and the RWR is weak, but come on. The missles more than outweight the negatives of this plane. The RWR is honestly not that bad, and the only really issue I’ve faced is the fuel efficiency and a small amount of hardpoints
no missiles == makes you want to conserve them
no rwr == makes you not want to engage if position is even a little bit risky or potential for more than 1 missile
r77 is meh, like sure sub 10km you are golden’ish, but china bias is gonna get you
Plane is extremely ‘Position’ reliant, sure call it skill issue, but the combination of lower missile count, weaker rwr, not many CM to spare really doesnt inspire for anything but 1:1
I am yet to spade it, currently rolling r27er \ r77 \ r73 , but it somehow feels worse than mig29 9-12 with R27er at 12.7 as it feels like you have to encounter less fox3s making your rwr less of a problem, allowing for more ‘engaging’ gameplay.

Personnally i think plane to be enjoyable at higher tier’s has to have either high amount of CM, or usable RWR. Otherwise you r flying blind & afraid… and yes after 100’ battles it will be better and you will be good & prepared at how that br feels without rwr, but why fly without RWR if you can have RWR on other platforms
I am used to the ‘inferior’ radars, but yes macros that fixes sudden glitches on them are a must
as good as the R-27ER is it is still an fox 1 at the end of the day unfortunately, so its natural that it struggles more at a higher BR where you will always atleast have a plane that uses a modern fox 3 in your game
ER only truly shines on aircrafts with good gimbal limits - 141, 29SMT, 30SM and SM2. And N019 is so easy to notch that R-27 barely even a problem.

I agree with you. The RWR is meh but it works, the radar is meh but still works. Its definitely worse than the Su-30s at 13.3 (+J-11A) but thats not necessarily its fault. The only thing I would change about the aircraft is adding the Sidewinders- I prefer 9Ms over R-73s.
