Such an old document that it thinks the r-77m and r-37 are ramjets. Also it heavily overestimates r-77 and underestimates amraam. What are these weights man, throw this entire document outta here
Imagine the current Su-30 if the R-77 was actually a 300 kg missile, would probably stay at the airfield.
Documents from Janes estimates the MICA’s range at 60 km
there’s so many wrong things on that document it physically hurts my brain
- the weight of MICA is wrong (by 1kg, but still for any serious source it would be a no go)
- R77 is apparently 300kg now, wtf
- The document seems to originate from the Netherlands, and while i have nothing against the Netherlands, they were not participating in the MICA development, so i fail to see how they could get their hands on the data
- The range “55km” does not specify if we are talking about a MICA IR or a MICA EM, while there should be a clear distinction considering their different aerodynamics
- AMRAAM 50km, oof
If that’s your source sorry not sorry, you’ll have to do better. Not to mention it’s not even primary as it does not originate from MBDA, and has therefore no more relevence than the Taiwanese trial. Both are secondary.
Afaik the MICA IR came a bit later than the EM, but the range is above 67 km, as you’ve said
no you got it reversed
IR has an IR dome and as such is not very aerodynamic. It is therefore limited to 60km
EM is the radar one and has a radom, making it more aerodynamic. That’s the one which can go 80.
IR may have been in service 4 years later, but the internals of the missile (motor, control surfaces electronics, warhead) are the same, so the 4 years gap did not translate in any range improvment
And BTW, if you want a primary source :
MBDA themselves stated “superior to 60km” in the past
r-77 goes from 175 to 300 kilos lmao
primary source
Spoiler
The only missile that actually looks right is r-73m
A broken clock is right twice a day as they say X)
Su-30 loaded with tungsten might become reality
not working u think i didnt tried that
You need to do some maneuvering while notching the missile because the IOG system and the relock system
