I have several sources stating the MICA EM is rated for 50 km. For war thunder that’s more than enough. The MICA is also the only missile which has a better seeker that’s actually harder to defeat. The seeker of the AMRAAM makes it useless against everyone other than a new guy that doesn’t even care about egressing.
why does mice em have the best seeker head in wt ?.
I don’t have it’s exact values but it’s significantly harder to notch than every other seeker

Results of Trials, with reports and all, clearly show a 70km range minimum.

Tbh MICA seeker isn’t the problem, the problem is that all other seekers are generic for all missiles and are quite meh as a result
It got a 67km kill on a drone from a taiwanese mirage 2000, so yeah…
Considering the IR variant max range is usually stated to be 60km, i can only assume the taiwanese test was done using an EM.
Considering what is known currently about the missile, it is possible gaijin used a weird source for the motor. If this is proved to be correct, in order to fix the MICA you would need to :
- remove the second stage sustainer (3.75s)
- make the main engine last 0.5s more (3s → 3.5s)
- Reduce the Cx (drag coefficient) in game from 1.65 to 1.35
- Reduce the diameter from 165 to 160mm (i’m baffled it’s still wrong)
- Make it loft 20° like any other missile instead of 5
- fix TVC (not a MICA only issue of course)
This way the MICA could reach 80km, but initial acceleration would be less brutal, giving a bit more room for evasion at closer ranges, while it would improve at longer ranges, and still have a bit of energy to challenge someone 40-50 clicks away in a usual air RB scenario.
It would still be brutal in dogfights and under 5km though

name fox 3 missiles besides r darter/aim120a/b that are not underperforming (difficult task)
AAM4 and PL12 should be vastly better than what we have in the game… I believe that all missiles should have the same difficulty for a defense to be carried out, none should be better than the other, why can the missile of the strongest platform for AIR RB have the right to be more OP? Ask yourself this question, whoever is talking about notch and defensive maneuver in this post is dehumanizing everyone who noticed this…
the IRIS T has about 25km of range, the 9X has around 30, ASRAAAM has maybe 25 as well and the mica IR has 60km

Don’t tell me that you shoot your AMRAAM further away then 50 km

he’s not, he’s just showing you that they are hard capped at 50km. Honestly going in the files would be faster, there’s a nice line called “Maximum travel range” or something similar set to 50km
In order to fire a MICA, you first need to get through the barrage of Amraams or R-77s coming your way.
If you get too close then yeah you are most likely dead, but that’s the case for most fox-3s.
I’ll agree the Rafale is somewhat busted in the FM department, but this thread is about MICA, not Rafale, and some more reasonable planes carry this missile (mostly mirage 2000), not to mention its possible appearence as a SAM in a coming update

french gov stating MICA is a “100km class missile”. Now before you jump the gun, no, i don’t think MICA can reach 100km. 80km could in theory be considered 100km class, 50 though ? not so much.
