You get 8 of them, great ones, but they’re slower and fewer in number, and you get an LDIRCM which won’t save you if you’re too close. In the other case, you get 16 medium missiles, a better LDIRCM, and they’re faster, allowing you to suppress any SPAA, and you can launch 2 or 3 at any tank to get a kill, but everyone simply ignores this. Great, remove the LDIRCM and FnF Gaijin missiles, fix the maps (the biggest culprits in these problems are the maps) and then add them back so everyone will stop complaining, at least I’ll be able to use my KA-52 again.
Yes i know that SACLOS works but not everyone has a 10 vehicle lineup let alone 2 spots for SPAA and not every tree has access to an ITO or a Flak. In fact of the 3 trees boasting LDIRCM Helis only 1 has a ITO, Flak, Pantsir level SACLOS SPAA.
Ofc they can but the hoops you have to jump through and the destruction they can unleash while youre working on destroying them stands in no relation to the cost of spawning them.
So the blame lies with Gaijin for not letting us buy with Silver Lions and forcing us to buy GE, not with Russia or MI28NM. I want more modern weaponry in the game; the game can’t simply stand still in time. And the fact that Gaijin implemented this incorrectly isn’t the fault of Russia, MI28, or Lmur; it’s Gaijin’s fault, and the horrible maps we have at the top tier
- Speed difference is not even .1 mach
- Yes you can fire 2-3 missiles, so we are back to basically having less firepower than on the MI28 MN
- They don’t loft as much, making them have a higher chance of hitting terrain before arriving
LDIRCM can stay but :
- model rotor doppler return and remove the unrealistic multipath on ARH SAMs
- remove LDIRCM’s ability to aim at multiple missiles at once
- remove LDIRCM’s ability to go through its own plateform fuselage
- Make IIR missiles more resistent to LDIRCM as per real life (it should take a few seconds to blind the seeker, assuming it works at all)
- Model the loft on all missiles and make sure all missiles hit around center mass on top of the turret instead of going for random tracks or that random attached box on the rear of the turret
Then and only then will we be more “realistic”, and dare i say more balanced
So you forgot to add map changes rsrs, the maps are so awful that’s why I’m only going to play Air RB until 2026.
Well ofc the limitation of lineups based on GE cost and arbitrary crew training cost is Gaijins fault.
i think most people do but the problem is not that theyre implemented its how theyre implemented. Why can LDIRCM not just work like it does irl? Why is the LMUR the only AGM that correctly lofts? Why does Gaijin artificially keep nerfing equipment that could actually fight back? Ofc its not the players fault that russia is unable to build competetive equipment so Gaijin keeps buffing and nerfing artificially so Ru top tier stays competetive. But its annoying for everyone else none the less.
Once again, it’s not a matter of who is stronger or not, I simply don’t understand how most people don’t notice that the reason for CAS being strong is literally the fault of the maps. I simply don’t care if Russian CAS is strong now, since CAS from other nations has also been strong while others were weak (everyone forgets that). Now, back to the central point, who is willing to take a huge vehicle like a BUK or an Iris-T and sit at the spawn, only to be killed in a maximum of 2 minutes because someone drove 500 meters, has already crossed the whole map, and is already stopped at your spawn? Who is willing to use BUK or Iris-T when LDIRCM doesn’t allow them to be shot down, or the BUK simply gets ‘bullied’ and can’t hit them because of multipath issues (theoretically it shouldn’t be affected because of the size of its warhead) Who is willing to take an SPAA and land on the Sweden map where you can’t do anything with your SPAA?
Understand that the fault is not with the armaments that came to a country, but simply the game, which has not adapted to these types of weapons. And what’s the use of creating topics about the maps if lunatics like ‘Tiger Tank’ or other people who think War Thunder has to be Stalingrad style combat are going to show up? I’m only playing Air RB precisely because Air RB has undergone changes that have improved the gameplay (even though the Rafale is ruining everything), but GRB doesn’t change; it gets more boring and repetitive on the same horrible maps.
Now, going back to the maps, look at the Fulda map. Every time I played on that map using Iris-T, BUK (very few times but I had a memorable match), and Pantsir, I was able to stop almost all enemy CAS, because no one was spawn camping me. I had space to move my SPAA to good positions where the radar covered a large area and I had a direct view of the helicopter pad, as well as vision of where most aircraft appeared. I can confirm that just changing the maps will solve many problems.
And since gaijin said we won’t have bigger maps because the players (the lunatics) like faster games, I’ll continue playing Air RB, unless BMPT 72 actually comes out, then I’ll only play to get it. If it doesn’t come, I have absolutely no interest in getting a tank and fighting in a 1km space or even less.
It is? Everyone knows that the maps are not made for top tier and would require some serious work for a “better” experience which Gaijin seems unwilling to do. But trying to do away complaints about balance by refering to the maps doesnt make sense all vehicles play on the same maps and therefore the game needs to be balanced around the terrible maps not the other way round.
No the first fault here is how they are implemented. How should a tech tree get realistic equipment to counter other equipment if that equipment completely defies reality? That is the crux with the new helis the fact that existing equipment made to counter them simply doesnt work in game the way its supposed to.
Change the LDIRCM, alter how it works for all helicopters, weaken multipath because it doesn’t make sense that modern missiles like the BUK SampT etc. can’t hit them 30-20 meters from the ground, and as I said I didn’t have problems against the USSR, because Su-30 players are simply dead brains flying in a straight line and dropping KH-38s, and if you’re having trouble dealing with them it’s a skill problem.
Besides the fact that the CAS of all nations was once stronger than the Russian and French CAS, the F-16C was extremely dominant, the Su-27SM was good, the F-4 Phantom is good one of the things @AlvisWisla says, or someone else that I agree with CAS in general has always been strong regardless of the nation.
Yeah CAS was, is and will always be strong just by design compared to ground forces. The problem is just when it becomes game deciding strong without proper counterplay and that level is certainly reached now.
Yes we know that non russian CAS was super strong before thats why Gaijin made up some stuff and put everyone else at a disadvantage so that could change. Thats also a big reason why people are specifially pissed at russian CAS compared to other strong contenders
They didn’t get disadvantaged though.
Soviet CAS is not unique.
It’s strong, alongside multiple other tech trees.
People focus Soviets because there’s an incorrect thought that there’s bias while ignoring evidence that ruin that hilariously incorrect perspective of the game.
You can admit all long-range F&F IR AGM helicopters are OP without dismissing the OP nature of Mi-28NM.
It doesn’t help that hundreds of posts in 2023 and 2024 were all claiming how good Soviet players were.
They absolutely did. Brimstones are gimped for balance. LMURS are the only AGMs that loft correctly. Tandem warheads don’t work. KH38MT is added in a way that would not fly for any other tree. People focus on the soviets due to the consistency with which they get favourable dubious treatment.
I do. In fact my first comment in the other MI28NM thread was how the 64E will be similarly annoying once more us players finish the 543000RP grind.
France’s Hammer was added in the exact same way. Not sure how you forgot this…
Otherwise I agree with your points.
No? The IR hammers undoubtedly exist. They are capable of engaging targets as small as tanks just the functionality in game is a workaround. The Rafale undoubtedly can carry them.
The IR Hammers have a similar locking mechanism as what the Kh-38MTs are supposed to have.
It’s supposed to be a pre-programmed target launched in GNSS/IOG and it locks around 1.5km after doing a LOAL scan.
The IR Hammer seeker is as over-performing as Kh-38MTs because both are currently copy-paste AGM-65 seekers instead of their accurate seekers.
With the small difference that we dont even know if we KH38MTs seeker is good enough to engage targets as small as tanks let alone moving and we dont know if it is supposed to work the same way as the hammers since we dont have any proof, tests, usage or anything like that. For all we know the seeker could have the same functionality as the one on storm shadow or Taurus
So no the MTs implementation and the questions behind it are not comparable to the hammers
The BUK is really bad, man.
They exist but their seekers are only supposed to go into IR mode at about ~1.5km. Would make them essentially GNSS or Point-TV in WT.
I am aware of that, like i said the functionality is not modeled in game. However we actually know what the hammers can do, we dont know anything about what the godawful seeker on the MT can do and what its limits and functionality is, because no one has any data on tests, usage or anything like that.
