Alright so, anyone else unable to radar lock the Mi-28 ? I was in a rafale M at like, what, 5-10km max ? In HMD so 19km range, unable at all to lock it even front aspect, had to kill him with my cannon
Modern radar are using the Doppler effect to get inforamtion about the target and not having issue locking near the ground.
The doppler effect is when a moving target cause the frequency to change from ^different perspectives (imagine a moving ambulance wwith siren on). Now, a Doppler radar can erase from it’s view not moving things in the objective to have a clean view of the target without the ground, tree…
Now the problem is that the helicopter isn’t mvoing as well.
So Doppler can’t see it.
The paradox is that the blades are gigantic and not hiding; this is where the paradox is.
The use of Doppler effect on blades, propeller and other is called ‘micro-Doppler’ and is still pretty much new (that’s one of the way you can know what aircraft you are locking from kilometers). The micro-Doppler isn’t modeled in-game.
