From what I remmeber the Battle Ratings for the famous British Twin Boom jet fighters of the late 40s and 50s laregly goes back to the time when teh classic i.e. early swept wing Sabres and MiGs were situated quite a bit higher in respect to their Battle Ratings.
Similiar to the Zeroes which are being bumepd higher and higher in Br due to people insisting on digfighting them P-47’s and such machines the British icons from the early codl war as well as their derivates are often placed at the same Battle Ratings or even higher than their betters such as MiG-15 and F-86.
The realisation that a adjustment Battle rating adjustment is in order finally hit home when playing Aquilon - facing CL-13, MiG-17 and F3H.

Nothing is more obvious of an issue when you see that the Venom FB.4 is a full BR higher than the Sea Venom and even higher than the Aquillion that even gets A2A missiles.
The Rank V aircraft are a total mess in terms of BR and balance, not just for Britain.
The FB.4 lacks a radar, and thus about 0.5t of wieght, which helps a lot wiht its FM, but yeah, its not enough to justify being a full BR higher given what else is at 8.0
I think the addition of aquilon to france and the hawk T1a really should have shone more light onto how stupidly overtiered these early british jets are as that plane can beat all of the Vampire family, despite itself also struggling quite badly at its BR of 7.7, can easily be moved down to 7.0 and not break the game as its not outturning anyone ever as it has nothing but speed (which is irrelevant when a sabre is 8.0)
Venom is the same BR as the hunter F1 or the best sabres despite hardly being able to deal with competent F80-C10 shooting star player from 8.0. It can see a harrier with aim-9G or MIG 21 variants
vampire is the same br as the first sabres despite hardly being a competitor for the ME 262 Jabo at 7.0, it can see a yak 130
Sea venom/ Aquilon is a tiny bit better than vampire in aerobatic performance, its game over against a SU-9 tbh. what a sad plane overall to fly.
Vampire should be 7.0
Sea Venom should be 7.3
Venom should be 7.7-8.0
Aquilon I guess, makes sense for 8.0 as it has radar missiles but i imagine they are bloody useless, so probably could sneak away with 7.7
all the low tier jets (pre-Sabre) also need the sabre/mig 15 and beyond moved up significantly in a decompression rebalance as well as this.
I genuinely have no how usable they are, but ironically, the bomber buff might have made them far more worthwhile if you get a downtier if they’d perform about how I think they might perform.
Hmm… I had half decent success with missiles on the dev server, but being an SARH, you oculd try for a headon, that would probably pilot snipe if nothing else.
Matra 511 is so usefull especially against B-52H and TU-95 with chaff that playing the British Sea Venom at 7.7 without them likely is the better idea. They are a gimmick especially on that airframe.
Well if you hit them you are usually a bit to close for comfort. They also fly a lot like AIM-4 and unlike AIM-4 at the moment often just generate hits on the bomber while being quite heavy.
Aquilon is a sidegrade to the normal Sea Venom it’s more of a different play style than a upgrade.
Ive been fighting several in the hawk T1a recently, which bar turnfight capability stomps every single vampire, i know as ive tested this with some friends who are competent players. The hawk really cant deal with them if the 262 is aware (lot of the time they arent but this isnt a vehicle issue)
Its a sea venom with a missile so its inherantly an upgrade, even if the missile is really trash. if its worth a BR increase within current compression is a good question though
The day I’m struggling against a serial production ME-262 in a Vampire is the day I uninstall the game.

Sea Venom is heavy and cumbersome without the missiles already. With the missiles you give up on position and energy.
If we were talking about CL-13 having AIM-9B or not at the same Br sure that is a straight upgarde, another tool to be used.
With Sea Venom / Aquilon you decide wether you want to TRY going after fighters or wether you TRY your luck with bombers.
Being successfull against fighetrs without Matra 511 hanging from you at 7.7 is mroe likely than being successful against anything with or without Matra 511 at 8.0.
I have been hit by AIM-7 a few times now and there is nothing for you to do especially when you are weighed down with those missiles. These missiles are not of the most efficient kind either.
its been a long time since ive faced a me 262 in a vampire as im used to only facing meteors and sabres in the thing (its tragic to play). Cant deal with them in a hawk despite it being a superior plane, maybe some things have changed in the last few updates but i doubt that.
I see it as “go snipe a bomber then deal with fighters” rather than one or the other. depending on the missiles performance thats 1-2 free kills on bombers or zombie base bombers before dealing with fighters.
the F3H demon needs to move up a lot. that thing is blatantly unfair

Being what it is (both the plane and the missile) I really can not.

Playing it feels like what I’d imagine bringing a super prop into a supersonic lobby would feel like.
fair. probably is not worth a BR increase over the sea venom then.
does deserve a CONSIDERABLY HIGHER BR in GRB from the nords tho. MCLOS bombs like nord or bullpup shouldnt be a thing lower than 8.7, its blatantly unfair for a 7.3 tank player to face that
Welcome to the british air experience. We dont have a single true supersonic until 12.0 with phantom and tornado. you wont ever have a plane even close to meta for the BR as there will be a russian/american/german/french plane that will dumpster you instantly. Youre always on the back foot, even in a downtier with rare exeptions for hunter FGA9 and CA27 (that has a few Ts&Cs with it tho, its a fat sabre)
lightning is mirage and mig21 food its honestly really sucky to play unless you have a USSR squadmate and its not a full uptier so im not counting it.
