keep in mind that the booster phase of the meteor should burn around 40kg of propellant in a very small time, probably giving it a small lead in the start, but it’s hard to know for sure
Budget and end of the cold war. Cheaper to iterate on proven solid fuel than experiment with “new” tech.
For Russia, they use massive fat missiles with solid fuels that forego any stealth/performance beyond extreme range.
For US, back then doctrine was Airland Battle, not network centric warfare (heck, the F-22 are orginally unable to datalink to stay more stealthy), and overall the preferred weapon of choices against enemy air forces being cruise missilling them on the ground/ambush predator them with stealth aircraft, not super long BVR sheninagans with non-stealthy planes.
For Chinese, who the fuck knows. Likely motorisation issue, something they struggle on IRL fighters too (In WT they have very generous motorisation that are modelized from marketing data).
European tried and failed at developing stealth by the end of the cold war, and so doubled down and better sensor, flight performance and BVR with their eurocanards and fully embraced network centric warfare (with truck bomb plane and guiding/sensor plane).
This was confirmed by an MBDA spokesperson (and ex Tornado F3 pilot) at Dubai airshow in 2013.

- PL-21 does not exist, the best would be PL-17 which is also far from confirmed and is 100 solid propellant, likely even TVC long rang missile. 2. R-77M is also solid fuel, just bigger. Also he does have a point, all three major powers are sticking to solid fuel, maybe there are some unknown issues with ramjet afterall.
iirc china did make some mockups of ramjet AAM´s but they never went anywhere as one can see

They could add another gripen C at top br and give that meteor (Maybe call it Gripen C late or Gripen C(Meteor))
