Merkava 4 armor is long overdue to be buffed

A real Israel player is not optimistic lol

Im not saying it isnt useful but its not like gaijin is known to fix thos bugs fast
More so for israel

If anyone has any sources for Merkava/Namer hull weight, feel free to throw them in this thread:

Bug reporting will be easier if they are compiled somewhere, i might make a seperate Merkava one too, depending on what is found

איך מזיזים טנק ששוקל 80 טון??? | צה״ל

Here is the IDF directly bragging about the vehicle being 80 tons.

Has this video been presented as a source before? If so, why hasn’t it been accepted?

Also, what the hell has Gaijin taken as sources for our Merkava’s and Namer’s?

Like, even the “encyclopedias aren’t sources” is dubious at best in my opinion, because encyclopedias CAN be reliable sources depending on the material they consult in question and depending on the reputation of the site.

At this point the Israeli mains community will have to redefine the concept of “source” just to get a slight slimmer of hope to possibly fix our vehicles.

Also, Israeli source is always a +1.

Yes, it has been reported over a year ago by me and got shot down instantly.

Apparently this (The Israeli Armored Corps museum website: מרכבה | פארק לטרון

And this (taken from the IDF Armored Corps website):

The interesting thing is, regarding the discrepancy between the Namer’s weight and the Merkava’s weight, is if we choose to believe one number, the other one has an explanation. ill elaborate.

If we take the 65.5 ton number to be correct, then the Namer is severely underarmored. The old turret weight argument makes total sense, of course theres no way they both can be the same weight without armor changes.

But if we choose to believe the 80 ton number, then the Namer’s armor makes almost perfect sense. The discrepancy is gone.

Problem is, the armor will still not change even if we nerf to Merkava and give it 80 ton ingame, thus “correcting” the discrepancy.

Imo, the way to fix this problem is to implement SLERA armor modifiers using available info, such as the endless pictures of armor pieces with “explosive” written all over them, thickness measurements, and crew testimony. Then rework the Merkava and Namer armor values and ONLY THEN, give the merkava the horrible but true 80 ton figure.

the thing is nobody actually know the true parameters
nobody know the true weight and the true max speed
only the engineers who build it might know but they wont tell because this tank made to fight and you cant give information to the enemy
and same with armor i mean the main thing is the armor and every one i met and asked didnt give my a clear answer with numbers
The weight? it heavy and big
The speed? most of the time dont pass the 30kmh
Armor? nobody will give you legally information
so what is the solution you ask? well lets be real the weight is just number ingame, the speed theoretically can go up to 60kmh, but the armor got to change this thing is not just heavy and big.

well of some of you remember when they added Merkava 4 LIC the armor was better then the mk4 and mk4m but they fixed it, the armor that was on the LIC wasnt OP or something like that, its just was the correct aromor ingame.
and gaijin please fix the Trophy APS.

edit:even when they added the israeli TT in the dev it was same armor parameters as the then the “unfixed” LIC

we cant beg to change but we can ask to FIX what they already done!

Yes.

The Israeli Government website says 65 tons. If I had to guess, the government source probably meant without additional applied armor packages. Gaijin took that weight as the truth without a second thought.

Israeli Government Source. Likely flawed.

Probably early variamt like the m4b

Looks like even washington isnt a source now days

They just pick and chose what they want to accept

I’d have to look at the source again, if I can find it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if a naked Merkava Mk4 weighs about 65 tons.

Taking away the modular armor, it feels as though that would reasonably add up to 20 tons.

Well this is an adorable change (datamined):

2.49.0.63 → 2.49.0.64

  • Merkava S. 4 “LIC”, Merkava S. 4 B, Merkava S. 4 M: turret roof NERA: armour thickness modifier against explosions and shrapnel: 1 → 0.125

Just love seeing further nerfs to armour (87.5% decrease in effectiveness btw), especially when FnF munitions are more prevalent than ever.

All this and not a single buff in years 😕

Hi what does this mean ? Sorry i dont know how this things work

It means that the turret roof will now be more susceptible to the following weaponry:

  • HE Frag shells (like 3OF26)
  • Air-Launched rockets (like CVR-7, S-8KO, S-13, etc)
  • Guided/Dumb Bombs (GBU-series, KABs, Hammer)
  • Air-Launched AGMs (AGM-65s, KH-38MTs)
  • Aircraft Autocannons (Kamov 30mm, Strafing, etc)

And pretty much anything that the roof armour previously negated

Hell nah bruh… why gaijin hates israel? Whats the next thing? Vehicles breaking down every 5 minutes in battle?

They are the wrong weight, wrong armour, non-functional APS, missing like half the features that make it so good IRL (eg. Spall liners, receeded turret ring, added LWS functions, FCS, etc) yeah safe to say gaijin hates merkavas

Absolutely, the problem is that even if u talk to a community manager (like i did) they just like: chill bro, we got everything under control but suddenly they just drop another merkava nerf

What the actual F. So hang on

  • APS is still broken
  • Overall composite modifier is still broken
  • Merkava 4 still missing spall liner
  • Engine protection nerfed massively last patch

And instead of fixing any of it, the only value they change is this?? Composite armor ONCE AGAIN providing less armor than rubber of similar size??? This is such Mickey Mouse bullsh*t. I guess the Merkava 4 was performing too well against the broken LMUR. -_-

Gaijin might as well directly change the NERA coefficient of the entire Mecawa vehicle to 0 to avoid the “BUG” that Russian tanks cannot use 3OF26 to eliminate Mecawa in one shot.
