Meet the Auction!

no movement 8(

Yeah I just think suggesting camo creators they could be making 10x what Gaijin can currently legally pay them from this auction stuff might be a little misleading. I very much doubt they’d offer much more than the current cap (possibly on a sliding scale up to 800 GJN depending how it sells).

Their statement claims they are doing a favour for content creators, but it’s clearly not the case

I mean it’s literally a blind bid now which I don’t think it’s at all legal not even from a gambling or a bidding perspective

War Thunder’s Original Statement: (don’t try to back track)

War Thunder introduced a new Auction feature on February 3, 2025, aimed at supporting community content creators. The auction allows players to bid on limited-edition cosmetics using in-game currency called Gaijin Coin. The developers stated that the items for sale would be created by the community, and the authors would receive a percentage of the sales as a reward.

Players’ Overall Feelings: (in a nutshell)
The introduction of the Auction feature has been met with significant backlash from Members of the War Thunder community.

Many players feel that the auction system is predatory and a greedy move by Gaijin Entertainment. Concerns have been raised about the potential for the auction to be used to sell actual vehicles in the future, which has led to some negativity on steam

Players have expressed frustration over the excessive monetization and the limited availability of auction items, which they believe creates a fear of missing out (FOMO) and artificially inflates the game’s economy

Some people think there is a hidden agenda, with the possibility of Vehicles being added at a later date to this new mechanic.

My Personal Feelings (and it hurts)

On that note, I’m not going to spend any more time or effort on this, as it seems the decision has already been made. Many of the major issues with the game remain unanswered, unfixed, and ignored. Gaijin, if you took the time to sit down, listen to the community, address what is rightfully wrong, treat all nations equally, and stop showing bias towards certain “unnamed nations,” things would be different.

Stop pretending the game is realistic and boasts the most vehicles (earning a Guinness World Record) when we all know a lot of it is just copy-paste content.

Also, stop moving the goalposts whenever you see fit and labeling it as a balancing issue. I personally ignored all that and accepted the small things, but now enough is enough.

You’re taking it too far, and it shows in the player base. People are bored of the next new vehicle; they want new game modes and old bugs addressed and fixed.

You’re destroying the game you put your heart and soul into. Look at it now, after 12 years—it just feels like a money grab at every opportunity. I hope you’re happy with what you’ve created.

I had an enjoyable time at the beginning, but now it just feels like you’re flogging a dead horse, making space for the next “new game” like Ace of Thunder to repeat the cycle all over again.

Give us a battle pass with 6 vehicles, good rewards, rebrand the login system, and offer premium time, free vehicles—give more to the people who support you. And cut all vehicles on the market/shop prices by 50%, I guarantee people will spend money. The reason you’re putting the price up time after time is that people are spending less and less, yet you still feel that you have to hit that quota for year-on-year sales targets or shareholder KPIs. Just stop and stop being like other predatory companies

Be Unique, Be Fun, Be Caring.

That is all.

P.S we have a right to be angry, please don’t play the victim card here, we are the victim, we feel hard done by and there is only so much we can tolerate until it becomes too much.

Sorry for the long response

Yeah great job gaijin (not)

Wait, is it really forcing people to bid 0.50GJN over the lowest, even if the second lowest is only 0.17GJN over?

I know this is just about the most minor issue compared to the auction themselves, but that is still weird.

From my understanding the lowest bid is 23.83 GJN

Yes and it goes up in .50 increments, the frame does anyways the other are a flat 1.0 each time.

well they are pretty much unique besides the other tank game. which are the only games i know of that are so predatory they have an auction on digital goods

its not even merch or things that actually have any cost to gaijin

Their current system puts a maximum of 200 new user camoes on the market every year 40 per box, 5 update boxes a year) when they’re closing in on 3,000 vehicles.

Maybe an auction isn’t the right way but I think they could do just about anything to increase that number and it would count as a favor to creators.

And no, just adding more GE camoes in game isn’t as good. You’re paying the flat fee per camo then with no guarantee anyone even finds out they’re there. There would have to be some promotional aspect to it.

Also you can’t just increase the camoes per box. Each creator gets 2.50 / 40 * 0.3 GJN or 0.019 GJN per key sold. To keep the same rate of return. You’d have to increase the price of keys to 5 GJN and not as many people would buy keys.

You could start offering regular non-update camo boxes of course, so that a lot more creators got a chance… Maybe a new box every month with 40 camoes? I suppose that’s one alternative.

then just sell them on the market place for a fixed price and give the creators 30% of that

and if visibility is a issue make skin packs and sell them at 20% off compared to buying them individualy

Just give people an opportunity to buy all 40 camos when a new patch drops for X amount and then they can share with C/C, they can still do what they are doing now with the market, id just rather buy the whole set for a 1 off fee.

Their current egal terms say they can only use marketplace for resales. They would probably have to use their actual digital storefronts for that. But yes that would be one option.

(The trouble with “store camo packs” is most people are only going to want maybe one camo from a pack, really. And unlike the current update boxes, you wouldn’t be able to resell the ones you don’t want on the MB. So you’d probably end up with single-camoes going for 1 GJN each, mostly.)

The most recent E-Sports event was well-executed. Individual items were priced around £2.49 each, including a Skin, Decal, 300 GE, and Title.

The full pack, offered at a discounted price, was available for £15.94 (originally £19.92). This pack included all the teams, providing a total of 2400 GE, 8 Skins, 8 Titles, and 8 Decals for £15.94.

Like that alone I don’t mind, they’ve could of done the same with the auction stuff

Exactly my point, everyone of the C/C gets and equal share when sold as a pack and the end user gets it discounted, again i have no problem with them selling individuals as stated above.
