It doesn’t matter how it’s spun, the community said no
Gaijin: make an option turn on/off skin and decor for player
same Gaijin: make Auction for a skin
Like, you know, this is pro anti player move.
imagine you win the skin for like…100 Gcoin, and only you can see it
also, we have wt.live where everyone can make, share, use custom skin from community
The skin is user made and they took that oppoturnity to make money instead atleast give the user a share percentage or just give the one that made it the money instead
but no they taking it all
its a lose lose for us
I have all that stuff turned off as I have no desire to see a certain symbol paraded around.
It’s a shame, but it is what it is.
Gaijin, please stop
Presumably this falls under the “new programs” exception, but it gives you a sense of what they pay out in general.
Gaijin, if you’ve run out of ideas, I suggest you shut the game down entirely rather than messing it up. If you’re gonna ruin it, might as well pull the plug.
It’s pretty clear from the contributor agreement:
Gaijin agrees to pay You a revenue share of 30% (thirty percent) of the Adjusted Gross Revenue divided by the number of Camouflages included in a kit pre-formed by Gaijin for the Sale of the Service (“Your Share”).
Example.
The player obtains a “chest” in the Game, which includes three (3) Camouflages created by three (3) different Users, among which there is Your Camouflage. After opening the “chest”, one of the three (3) Camouflage randomly comes up to the player (it does not matter if it’s your Camouflage or Camouflage of the other User of those three), which can be activated. For example, the cost of opening a “chest” (the cost of a “key purchase”) is equal to 2.5 Gaijin Coins. If no amounts are deducted from the Adjusted Gross Revenue, the cumulative share of all three (3) Users in the revenue sharing after the key purchase will be 0.75 Gaijin Coins, and the share of each of them, including Your Share, will be 0.25 Gaijin Coins.
So in the case of Storm Warning, with 40 camoes in the box, every time a key is bought, every creator should get just under 0.02 GJN per camo in the box. Once you get up to 500 GJN (25,000 keys) you can start to cash out into real money. (Currently they’re selling about 2000 Storm Warning keys per day.)
Bad idea. Actually no wait. It’s worse than bad.
A bad idea can just be put down to an error, possibly a brain-fart. This is a TERRIBLE idea. So terrible I can fully believe that it was dreamed up by the same genius who decided to wheel out those high repair costs and ultra-low rewards the other year.
The system is opaque - you could be ‘bidding’ against bots, Gaijin staff, whoever. In fact I’ve never seen any online game where an auction (bidding vs. others and artificially inflating prices for in-game items) has been a good thing. It’s a pretty bad idea on every level.
Which probably explains why someone in St Petersb… ahem…Hungary, went ahead and did it anyway.
Just stick to premium time and premium vehicles (a staple of any free-to-play title) - stop trying to turn War Thunder into a Casino. Again.
so for skins 30%. so if there is a single bid 100 dollars the creator gets 30 bucks and gaijin 70
makes it pretty clear who this is for plus the creator does not get anything for all the people that spend money but didn’t get the item in the end
Lol terrible it’s went up 127$ for a flipping pfp banner
“…as well as to give gaijin(70%)and authors(30%) the opportunity to receive a reward that corresponds to the demand for the items they create.”
numbers taken from the revenue share program should be added to the main announcement
I don’t see how that is clear when none of that was written up in regards to the auction.
Since they didn’t change the legal yet on the agreement the person signed, presumably it has to follow the rules of that agreement.
Auction:
I believe auction sales would fall under the provision: “A fixed fee of $120 USD to $800 USD for camouflages purchased directly.”
So the actual auction return from Gaijin likely does not fully scale with the creator reward.
The 30% is specifically the creator share on the sale of keys for box camoes. To make 800 GJN, which you could cash out, on a box camo, Gaijin has to sell about 40,000 keys for that box, which seems pretty possible over time. It’s possible that they’re giving creators either a “fixed amount now” option through the auction as opposed to the “steady dribble over time” option through the boxes.
that would mean they don’t even get a split from the auction revenue which would destroy the “purpose”
basically this part would fall apart "…to receive a reward that corresponds to the demand for the items they create.”
but does not really matter even if the revenue share was 99%
gaijin would still make enough from people not getting the item or additional sales with coupons
but it would stink slightly less cash grab
What can one say?
Someone at Gaijin has a ‘gift’ for uniting the playerbase. Even if it is by causing a PR disaster every so often.
=)
Yeah I suspect a lot of this is they’re not getting enough people agreeing to the old terms for content creation.
