There is no way this “mechanic” can be improved or redeemed.
The sole purpose of auctions is to drive up the price of an item. It only benefits the seller. Meanwhile the buyers fight among themselves in a race to outbid the other.
Maybe it makes sense for rare one of a kind treasures in real life, but this is a video game. These items are nothing but some pixels on a screen.
There is no reason why there should only exist 100x of snake profile frame. You can make as many of these as you’d like! There is a word for this, artificial scarcity.
I think the reception here speaks for itself… nobody likes this!
You would be better served selling these items on the market (which already exists) to a playerbase of several thousands for couple GJN a piece, instead of a handful of whales for extortion money
But, those silver lions would go the the guy that created the auction, maybe someone that need those to increase crew slots or crew expertise, or unlock vehicles
You have to ask if the seller (the ones that made the skins) would rather have the auction or just sell on the market, yes Gajin 100% make a commission by taking a % of GJN out of circulation but this in theory benefits those that make the skins a lot.
If gaijin goes back on their word of “to distribute player-created content” then yeah it’s a very valid reason to dunk on them but i feel like people are jumping the gun.
Right, But let’s say a new player really wanted a camo or whatever item may come from that silver lion auction. He cannot get it because of his SL balance.
Just because you’re a new player or maybe you have IRL commitments and can’t play much shouldn’t limit you from new and cool things.
This is my personal opinion of course, But changing this test auction to the SL one won’t change much i feel.
Its about as clear as day that players dont even want it added to the game. Its a scummy addition through and through. There’s nothing to constructively criticize. Dont add it is pretty clear feedback.
Now lets say that very same new player is around the age that many started the game, so around 12-14 (coincidentally the age rating of the game) and wanted a nice camo.
This either locks such a player from this new content completely considering the exorbitant prices auctions entail, or teaches them very questionable spending habits.
“Just participate in our FOMO events that we refuse to adjust based off player feedback. Because everyone loves grinding 45,000 points in two days and that totally hasnt been brought up every single event announced”. Or hey, just buy some Gaijin coins because the entire purpose of this for Gaijin to scrap as much off of these transactions.
Yeah, I mean, if you want to get spun up over something, consider that a GJN can be bought for 1 USD or 1 Euro roughly, or about .60 of either of those in Russian currency at the moment, same as anything else based on the Pixelstorm store. So any mechanic with GJN/GE based economics are always going to come with built-in disadvantages for western players at the moment. To me all that’s not worth getting worked up about though.
This seems like something that if it comes to the game despite a whole forum post of comments saying do not add it, War Thunder will tank on steam reviews. Like this is the warning from the player base. We are letting Gaijin know right now, a clear majority seem to be against this. There is nothing to tweak or fix or improve or adjust.
